Did a fan mod on my 64 today. Used 2 Noctua 80mm and a 120mm. Sooo much quieter and cooler at high load now.

It is a bit of a pain (compared to cards I've done before) as it's difficult to mount fans to the stock heatsink.

It's not pretty enough for pics. It's purely functional

A better fit would probably be 2x 92mm fans. Also one problem is when you take the backplate and shroud off the card will sag under it's own weight, so it needs supporting somehow.

Raised an RMA for my Strix after seeing temps well above 100c on the VRM's which i put down to the hesitant frame rate while in VR, as well as games automatically shutting off.

Sounds like one of the earlier units that had thermal pad issues...

I seem to have encountered a couple of new problems with my Vega 64.

First, when my computer has been idling for a long time and the screen powers down (i'm not talking about sleep or hibernation, just normal idle) and I try to wake the computer it responds but the screen never comes back on. The only way to get video back is to restart the computer. After I restart and get back in Windows I get the message telling me that my Radeon settings have been reset. At first I thought this had to do with my UV but I found that it even happens when using stock settings. My monitor is plugged in via HDMI 2.0 btw.

Secondly I have noticed that CSGO keeps crashing every night for me the past couple of nights. The only thing that seems to work for me is to reinstall the Radeon drivers, regardless of what version I install.

I think the game crashing might be a Driver Issue, 3 of the guys i game with all have AMD cards and the game suddenly shuts down. This has happened in 1 or 2 other games as well but less frequent.

I've had to take one of my Vega 64s out of my main PC, as when I'm using multi GPU they are too close together for air flow. I'm going to have to look into something that would allow me to keep them further apart. Likely some sort of custom PCI extender. I don't want to mess around with water cooler or AIO though.

Speaking of crashes and black screens people have been reporting recently, I have seen the same. More so with another PC I have with Vega 56 (I had to reinstall Windows on that one, which appears to have resolved it). Rolled back drivers from 19.2.1 to DEC 2018, and then reinstalled to 19.2.2 and it seems okay.

Slapped a Morpheus II on my Vega 64. GPU and Hot Spot temps are looking great but during stress tests the VDDC and MVDCC are getting to about 110C-115C.

I put the little heat sinks on the VRMs with the supplied tape like how most others online have done it, and even tried reapplying them a few times with no improvement. I guess those little heatsinks can't keep up with the amount of heat coming out of those VRMs. OTOH I've heard that the VRM's on reference Vega cards are good up to 150C so I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.

I've added this to my Plex Server so I have a second gaming PC when friends come over.

It's been a bit of a money pit so far lol. First issue is that my Heatsink is blocking access to the PCI-E slot by about 2mm. Previous card was a tiny GT710 so must have missed this. Doh! Orders Corsair H115i. Realises that my old server case (Fractal Design XL) does not support any type of water cooling(!!!???). Doh! Orders Fractal Design R5. Bits turn up. Go to fit the cooler but realise that Corsair want to use the stock mounting bracket that I threw out as I had an Alpenföhn Brocken 3 from day 1. Seriously, they don't supply the stock mounting bracket in case you don't have it!? I've had to buy a DOA mottherboard for £20 off Ebay just to get the stock backplate and mounting bracket. Hopefully the last bits will turn up today and I can undervolt, overclock and have some fun!!

Just brought a vega64 from oc, it does not come with support bracket. Phoned oc he checked a few in stock and they are the same. So its going back...

What card was it? I don't think they all come with a supporting bracket included. The Sapphire Nitro+ definitely does.
