Hello all.

Just a quick question, I recently bought an MSI GeForce 2080 Gaming X Trio to replace my MSI GeForce 1080 Armor OC. Now I know you can't SLI two different Nvidia GPU's but can you actually have them installed at the same time? How would it work if I had both cards installed?

I've heard you can have a secondary non-identical card installed to act as a physics card and perhaps gain some extra performance is this true?

I'm selling my 1080 for £400 atm but I wanna know if it's still useable.

Cheers guys.

Yes you could install two different types of cards at the same time, I used to have a 560TI with my 1080ti to drive another monitor with HDMI, due to my 1080ti only having 1 HDMI port and this was used for my VR.
Also yes it can run physics too.

So if I dedicated my 1080 as a physics card would I gain any more performance in games?

The games that support Physx are pretty much older games now which the 2080 will be able to run it self I really wouldn't be using a 1080 as a Physx card as that's just a waste I'd sell it and recoupe some of the cost

I don’t know the answer to this question, but wouldn’t it be easier to return the 2080 (if you can), flog the 1080 for £400 and buy a 2080ti?

I refuse to spend over £1000 for a GPU. I know my 2080 cost £800 but no way would I go higher than that.

I'm having difficulty shifting my 1080 too, it's on eBay for £400 (I hope I can use eBays name btw). It's been listed for a few weeks now, there is interest as I've got about 15 watchers on it.

So it ain't worth it then?

I'd lower it to £350 ish mate £400 might be a tough sale when there's Ti's going for £500. I've just picked up a 1080 Ti for £350

Lower the price to between £320 and £350, you will struggle to get £400

that is because a 1080 is worth £300 at best.

so that is why it isn't selling

It sold for £400 yesterday! I'd post a link to prove it but thats probably not allowed. PM me if u want proof.
i think ppl are under pricing GPUs at the moment, i sold my asus strix 1080ti for 650, yesterday, yet ppl claim to have bought 1080tis for 300-350

if i could buy a 1080ti for that price id buy it just to sell back at a profit
