I’ve been painting my stairs /skirting and architrave , most is fresh pine

At the mo I’ve sealed all the knots with solution then primed everything with Zinsser 123 , 2 coats so far

I’ve noticed little pits around the knots and some grain showing through, they werent as easy to see before priming

What’s the best way forward before painting with satin?

Should I just use any old wood filler then sand over the affected areas or is there a specific filler I should use on top of the Zinsser 123 primer?

I’ve seen a guide using a grain filler but not sure which is appropriate

I'm definitely not a decorating expert so take my opinion with a pinch of salt but I'd be reaching for the decorators caulk and sandpaper for that smaller gaps.
