I wanna see 2070 at £350. Too bad these ******** killed SLI with it.

Im sure that's the reason AMD and Nvidia royally screwed up the support for crossfire/SLI. Years ago it was fantastic, everything had 90% scaling. I'm sure they started to see a loss of high end flagship sales because people were buying another last gen card to achieve far greater performance than the newly launched top tier card in MGPU.

I think in general it's not nefarious. It's simply due to the switch from DX11 to DX12, so now it's on the game devs to implement mGPU support on a per game basis. And hats off to the masters - Stardock/Oxide, Nixxes, and Rebellion, all of which have fantastic mGPU support. Unfortunately a short list as you can see. Certainly with GPU performance improvements slowing down to a crawl, there's no doubt both companies feel threatened (but especially Nvidia due to being the leaders) by the possibility of just CF/SLIing your way to high-end performance for a couple more years on the cheap.

Long time lurker, i'm just waiting for the right time to upgrade a 1080/4670K/Rift system, prices are starting to move in the right way, i would only drop on a 2080 if it was under £500, i know thats a long way away and will just mean i wait longer (Zen2 etc) if a 2080Ti (or equiv) was under £800, i would consider it too, but that is very unlikely for a long time, so ATM i simply cannot spend any money as nothing is giving me any real value, its a real pity.

Might be a bit far for a 2080 to go under £500, every expected the same of 1080Ti, it never happened.

Yeah a lot of more complex DX11 and DX12 feature level features just don't play nice with multi GPU unfortunately as they require too much data that might end up on or being processed by the other GPU, etc. the exception being DX12 explicit multi-adaptor where the developer has much more ability to actually manage how multiple GPUs work and farm out their workload in a way they know will best utilise multiple rendering devices - with CF and SLI all a developer can really do is their best to avoid breaking multiple GPU compatibility and/or if lucky nVidia or AMD might do some driver level hacks - generally game developers don't do any specific multi-GPU programming as there isn't actually a software interface to that other than some very basic functions for seeing how many adaptors and setting which adaptor you are using, etc.

The 1080ti was a great great card and a great seller but the 2080 is a bit of an expensive 1080ti performance card 3 years on, if your not interested in raytracing its too expensive.

I'm sure ocuks push to get prices down helps...but this is just Nvidia adjusting their prices because they clearly know they have not made the sales targets investors expected.

Then we have all those that did buy that paid top dollar and didn't really get much for it as games didn't use the tech in that period. They won't be angry, because they have more money than sense, or just don't care. Which is fine.

Still too expensive.

Will skip this generation and see if Nvidia come to their senses re pricing.

I imagine they will have a **** ton of these to get rid of by the time the next gen comes round.

And it'll still be 50:50 on whether theyll last longer than a month or two.
