It's taken me 8 years to notice that the soffit around the bay window on my house hasn't been sealed like my neighbours has 
I do think this does affect my lounge insulation slightly as I believe it's just an empty cavity behind and then single layer plasterboard.
I have a cartridge gun but am not sure which kind of sealant this is? I recall seeing an electric caulking gun being used by the builders but think that's more likely to be down to the volume of use than sealant itself.
If I can source this locally I'm competent enough to do this myself or will chuck a local tradesmen a few quid.
