Nice machines Rilot, the top printer is very Bear like. Have you released the files for it? You should also post this in the main 3D Printer thread :).

Thanks. Didn't know we had a 3D printers proper thread. Posted.
The designs for the extruder mount and the cable run are on Thingiverse here: https://www.thingiverse.com/rilot/designs
Before Christmas I'd never even opened a CAD program. Quickly learned on Tinkercad and then Fusion 360.

Designed and printed this.

I was getting annoyed with my Ikea Tradfri dimmer being stuck to the wall. I was getting even more annoyed with visitors turning off the lights at the switch, thus killing power to the bulbs and preventing them from being turned on again with the gateway.
So, the switch cover was born.

The mount for the dimmer had holes that I could use for an interference fit.

Knocked this up in Fusion 360

Printed it

It has a hole in the bottom so that the dimmer can be popped out if I need to access the switches

Just completed my longest print yet of 21.5h, thankfully it didn't turn into spaghetti!

I'm just waiting for the pump, some more M3 bolts, fan grilles, some tubing that won't kink and some 18650s before I can let it rip! :D

Some current builds of mine:

1. A pokeball switch game holder I made for my little brother:

2. A 1:1 Mjolnir replica - This has been set back with sanding issues due to a bad bond of the to hammer halves. My partner also knocked it over and shattered the handle, which needs reprinting.

3. A Mk1 arc reactor, with an arduino controlling leds. This needs finishing touches on paint / copper wire and also the mount printing.

4. A Majora's mask, again with LED lights

It depends how big you want it to be really. You can scale the parts to suit any printer.

is there a buyers guide for 3d printers somewhere?

as in if you want a small one these are the top 3, if you want medium and large. just so i can compare prices and value for money.

ideally i would want to print large stuff which makes sense in a bigger printer but if it could be done in parts on a smaller one which takes up less space that makes sense too but obviously i imagine there would be the catch of joining them up together yourself using glue or the likes.

I'm sure there are loads of guides. I haven't been keeping up with printers, so I can't really advise here:) A quick google and a few reviews should see you right.

As for the ED-209 model, you'll see it's made up of parts that need to be assembled (using glue etc). I should've linked to the source file, but I linked to one of the makes that looked good instead.
Size wise, you'd obviously be limited by the largest component that can fit within your available build volume. As I say, you can use your slicing software to scale components to suit your printer or your requirements.

I'd go with a printer that offered 300x300 or more in X/Y if you want to make large models. Maybe something like the Creality CR-10S or whatever equivalent is good these days.
