I’m still hoping Waltz will have a surprise scene or two.

I really felt like they shortchanged him so much in Spectre, he's such a good actor and felt somewhat wasted in that role. I was really hoping they would make up for it in this film but doesn't look like it.

Indeed. I think to end it where they did after they built up Spectre so much is a mistake. I’m hoping he gets at least one scene.

As far as the Craig bonds go, I loved Casino Royale and the rest have been a bit of a letdown, Skyfall was mostly ok until it went full Home Alone. Spectre just seemed to be entirely style over substance all the way through. Waltz was utterly wasted in the role, he deserved much better.

I'm generally more excited for Mission Impossible these days than bond. That said, i'm cautiously excited for this.

Brosnan and Craig seemed to follow a similar track - excellent first film and everything tails off after that, though Craig's films are better on the whole.

Until Craig goes its all a waste. Other than Casino Royale I've hated the new bonds, Spectre was awful. I realise a lot of that is down to the director / storylines, but I think that its time for a new Bond and therefore a new bond "feel" - be that slapstick, gadgets, or whatever

I'm wondering what kind of a "threat" Malik would be? We've seen most varieties of bad guy stereotypes already so I'm wondering how they're going to make him unique in the series now we don't use nation states as Bond villains - another hacker type (too obvious), an underling of Blofeld etc?

I think he'd be a good crazy scientist type intent on wiping out huge population zones for the good of the environment etc...

Bond will sympathise with him, hence driving around in a EV.

This might be the first Craig film I don't bother seeing. I feel like we are at the invisible car moment in the Brosnan series right now.

It's clear they don't know how to handle Bond anymore, although Casino Royal was great. But I would prefer to see Bond rebooted to the Cold War and even the original books done again. Proper spying, proper global threats, less set pieces and more story line please.

Every Bond had their strongest films in their early outings in my opinion. Then the films become more and more derivative until they change the actor.

This x100. Goldeneye was the last "proper" bond film IMO as it had a grear cold war storyline. Casino Royale was good admittedly, but everything since has been pretty weak.
They need to stop trying to modernise it and making it all gritty and go back to what makes bond entertaining and dare I say it - fun!
