Hey Folks of the OCUK Forum, I am new here but have made some purchases from OCUK in the past. I just Pre Ordered the new 2080ti Matrix. I am prepared for the oncoming roast, but never the less I am excited to eventually get one of the fastest 2080tis on the market.

The matrix would make sense in a small case where you can’t fit a 240mm radiator

Or otherwise if you really hate the look of soft water tubes in your case

It’s not a special card persay, to quite Bullzoid: “The Matrix is just a Strix with a small AIO crammed onto it”

Well, I am a really big ROG fan, my entire build is based on the brand. So I really wanted to stick with ASUS.

Indeed it is, the strix PCB is pretty amazing. This card should be able to push 10 percent or so past the Strix.

The Matrix is a 360W card and the best (official) Strix OC Bios I could find on TPU is 325W. So, assuming the Matrix cooler is also a bit better, you have a good chance of getting past Strix performance (silicon lottery notwithstanding). However, I'd be surprised if it was anything near 10%, since we're only talking about 35W more, it's the same PCB and the Strix already had a good cooling solution. Post some benchmarks when it's up and running; don't think we have a Matrix on here yet.

There is some reviews out there, the Matrix from the ones I saw wasn’t able to get any meaningful performance gain over the strix after overclocking. Once you run Auto OC on both cards they achieve the same clock speed and performance and similiar temps too

When both cards are stock the Matrix is faster simply because ttebout of the box boost clock is set higher

I wonder if the 360w bios from matrix will work on the strix and does it void the warranty?

I will post some benchmarks when I do get the card. Not sure when that will be though haha.

All the bits arrived for putting an AIO on my Ti today. Have to say, I'm so far very pleased with the results!

It runs 35 degrees cooler, boosts and maintains 120Mhz more on the core and is now so much quieter whilst doing so. For a total of £83 for the G12 and H115i, it was totally worth it.

Has anyone tried flashing their STRIX 2080 Ti with 325W power limit bios with the MATRIX 2080 Ti 360W power limit bios? They seemingly use the same PCB, and the strix is dual bios, so fairly low risk - I just have no experience using nvflash!

Isn't it amazing how the strix 2080ti has now dropped in price once they brought out a higher ridiculously priced card.

You can flash any 2080Ti bios and it will work. Only real problem is flashing a completely different card bios, say flashing a 2080Ti with a 2070 bios etc.

Of course it depends on a few factors what else it may effect if the card/pcb is different. Such as LED lighting, fan count, types, profiles, speeds etc.

With dual bios nothing to fear if it goes wrong but it shouldn’t go wrong anyway. Worth a try but 325w to 360w won’t make a great deal of difference in terms of performance etc.

I got my strix 2080ti for £1256 at launch, wasn't too bad for a custom PCB card with big cooler at the time.

I recently water cooled the card and I am now hitting a power limited 2085mhz at 45C under load. I figured if it was as easy as flicking the bios switch and flashing it may be worth it.

I cannot get the memory stable over 1,900mhz though

stupid Micron chips. Memory seems to make a lot more of a difference, at least in benchmarks.

Would certainly be worth a go and may well help memory stability due to extra power. Flashing is a very simple process anyway.

Just download nvflash, best version is the one with the cert checks disabled and open as admin. Put the bios where you also have nvflash located.

Will also be worth keeping a copy of the original bios which can be easily read and saved in gpu-z.

Then it’s just a case of typing nvflash -6 biosname.rom

Where biosname.rom is the bios file name you have. Then it will just ask you to confirm.

I also usually disable the gpu in device manager, flash then re-enable again and restart the system.
