Over the last few years, I've become a bit addicted to Raspberry Pis, if I think of something to use one for, I have absolutely no hesitation in firing one up.

It occurred to me earlier today that I've now got rather a lot of them and I thought I'd work out exactly how many I have and what they're all doing.

I think this is the complete list.

  • Raspberry Pi Zero - Pihole
  • Raspberry Pi Zero - Amateur radio APRS gateway
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - Christmas tree flashing lights
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - Internet watchdog
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - ADS-B relay server (hosting a live feed)
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - Internet radio
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - Amateur radio QRSS grabber using QrssPiG
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W - Pihole
  • Raspberry Pi 2 Model B - OpenVPN and ddclient for dynamic DNS updates
  • Raspberry Pi 2 Model B - Remote, running Teamviewer for access to CentOS server (this is the only Pi I've ever had to use the GUI on)
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - UniFi controller
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - Amateur radio DXSpider
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - ADS-B receiver
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - ADS-B receiver (soon to be retired in favour of the one below)
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ - ADS-B receiver
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ - Remote ADS-B receiver

I run pihole, kodi, generic video apps, google voice, alexa and my torrent client all from the same PI3 and it uses max about 25% load.
My day1 pi1 sits in a drawer doing nothing.

Ever thought of consolidating?

Power draw per device is pretty low, but assuming all of your ~20 are all powered up and running, must surely be adding up.

I've got two Day1 Pi's, one runs a torrent client, and the other is sat on my desk not doing a great deal - i've thought about sticking Pihole on it.

Odroid c2 stuck to back of my router doing pihole work, overkill for it as its only doing that at the moment.
Odroid xu4 not doing much was playing with emulation and got bored with the problems, couple of other orange pi's, Pi zeros and a pi3 somewhere doing nowt.

I have a B running piHole, another running an ADS-B receiver, feeding both FlightRadar24 and FlightAware, and a B+ running RetroPie. Got another couple lying around awaiting for projects.

I've got 2.

  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ - Pi-Hole
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ - Portable router. It connects to local internet via wifi or ethernet then broadcasts my own wireless network where all traffic is sent down an OpenVPN tunnel to my OpenVPN server at home.

There's also a 2B in the drawer that's faulty. It'll install an OS just find but every single time I shutdown or reboot the SD card gets corrupted.

I have a couple in use atm:

1. Pi3b+ being used as an octoprint server
2. piZero in a gameboy shell being used as a retroboy
3. Pi3b+ as a Plex client for my bedroom
4. Pie3b+ as a retroarch box downstairs

I have a bunch of older models in a drawer now.

I need to get myself another Pi for a Pihole setup (when I can be bothered).

Raspberry Pi 2 Model B - RetroPie but not used it in ages
Raspberry Pi Zero W (but hard wired) - Pihole/DHCP but tempted to host this in a VM instead.

How have you got this physically set up for pihole? I have a spare r-pi zero and would be happy if I can use it for this purpose.

[Edit] should have Googled it first, micro usb to rj45.
