Spec me a-Windscreen chip repair kit

As above really. E-Bay/Amazon is riddled with them, all prices and types.

Anybody be able to recommend one through practical experience?

(And in before "Why not just go to autoglass?" I happen to like doing things for myself. Just that )

any of them tbf.. they're exactly the same.

halfords does them too afaik.

I've used the RainX kits several times in the past with good success so I can recommend that.

I've fixed chips on several cars with some decent results using that kit. It's not perfect, but short of replacing the screen it's as good as can be.
