Going through a bit kit overhaul at work, primarily switching from Canon (5DMKIII) for photography to Sony (A7R III) which'll also match our film cameras and give us the opportunity to ditch all our Canon lenses for E-Mounts.

ANYWAY, I'm here to ask about flashes. As filmmakers we obviously use lights, but we get the occasional photography commission from existing clients or alongside film shoots. Lights are ok to a certain point, but we'd like to upgrade our flash gear too.

What would people spec for a 3-point flash setup (likely one on camera and two off/slaves, or three off) with soft boxes etc? For portable use, not studio.

Godox flashes seem to be highly rated but we've not had any experience with them.

Thanks in advance!

3x AD200 flashes (there is now the newer pro model) and a xpro controller would give you a very versatile and portable setup.

EDIT: 2x AD200 and a TT685S if you want to retain an on camera flash
