so I'm heading off to Dubai on my own in July to get away from everything ha.
first time travelling to Dubai so have booked a few of the sites etc
I have booked in to one place for a meal during my stay but haven't found much else that doesn't need 2+ people.

any recommendations?
I'm not a food snob but don't mind "fine" dining at the same time. only looking for a few places as the hotel has 13 restaurants on site as well, so just looking to break up the eating side of things for the 2 weeks I'm there.

thanks in advance :)

Where are you staying?

JBR 'The Walk' is in Dubai Marina area and is full of all kinds of restaurants. I recommend The Butcher Shop and Grill - not cheap, but very nice. And Blaze Burger for a gourmet burger.

Another burger place worth checking out is Salt Burger - it's more of a shack, but I found their burgers very tasty (albeit overpriced).

If you are a breakfast person, try Eggspectation.

The list is endless. There's also much cheaper places to eat in the old part of Dubai. If there's one thing Dubai is not short of, it's places to eat.

that may be useful! im staying in Marjan Island so towards the north of Burj Khalifa
when booking the holiday I wasn't expecting much to be cheap :) so paying a bit for decent food wont be a problem.
Will definitely have a look at the butcher shop, sounds like my type of place

Parkers in Dubai Mall - amazing desserts
L'eto Cafe - Dubai Mall - amazing desserts and nice food but the standout reason for going here is they have a balcony with seating overlooking the fountains.

La Mer is a new 'destination' on the beach. Much like JBR, has lots of food restaurants and also worth checking out. City Walk Dubai was also really cool and home to restaurant called Farzi Cafe. Excellent food and quirky presentation.

Friday brunch at the Royal Meridien is a feast to behold.

JBR is great in the evening.

Pier 7 has a good selection and is very popular.

The hotel restaurants are often fantastic.

Basically you are split for choice.

Should be toasty in July!

Just a small point, Marjan Island is in Ras Al Kaimah, another Emirate about an hour's drive north of Dubai. I've stayed at Marjan Island before and it's really nice for a relaxing holiday but there's not much around there. We stayed at the Doubletree for 4 nights and then went to Sofitel in downtown Dubai for 2 nights to do more "stuff" (shopping and sightseeing).

Atlantis on the Palm has a Nobu, and it also has a good friday brunch. I'd recommend going there for a day if you can. Atlantis is similar in scale to a Vegas casino.

I heard the weather in July is the same as it is in Wales in the summer I'm not planning to spend a lot of time outside of the pool or where there is air conditioning.
the idea is that I will have a few days away from margin island to do the sightseeing, then a few days around the pool and hotel :)

The same as Wales in the Summer... :o?! You have been wildly misinformed, it's one of the hottest places on the planet. Without quite a bit of acclimatisation you won't feel comfortable outside for even the shortest periods of time between 0700-1800 (when the sun is up...). The humidity is suffocating and you can expect the temperature to be over 30 degrees at all times, with highs consistently above 40 and potentially as high as 50. I was there from last April until August, and it was horrible. I don't plan on returning, ever :p

Someone stitched you up :p

You’ll be fine in the air con or pool, but that time of year people stay indoors (or leave, hence all the super cars in London).

And yet FIFA decided a World Cup in this part of the world was a great idea!
