the short list.. which one?

Hi.. quick question.. decided to purchase a 15’6 Hp Omen, i7-8750H Processor, RAM: 8 GB / Storage: 1 TB HDD & 128 GB SSD, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB - £1099

But now I’m thinking as it’s mainly going to be used at home, mostly for playing games, I might as well get a 17’3 inch screen.

Don’t have loads to spend, so I’m now thinking of getting the Acer Predator Helios 300, it has the GTX 1060 6 GB, 144 hz screen, 8GB RAM DDR4, 128GB and 1TB HDD and SSD storage... but only has the Intel Core i5 8300H processor.. - £999

Will I notice much difference with the less powerful processor?

Hoping to pick one up today..

For the extra money I'd personally get the Omen.

Too late.. opted for the 17” predator.. think I would have regretted getting the smaller screen on the Omen and also it’s a bit rubbish that the omen doesn’t at least come with 16 gig of ram anyway hopefully have made the right choice.

I have an Asus and it has identical specs to the Acer you've chosen although I've put an extra stick of RAM in to take it to 16gb (and it has a 120hz screen). It's smashing through games for me. I play lots of stuff on high/ultra without issue although some extra grunt on the CPU would be useful in some cases.

the acer predator series are really nice laptops and very sturdy and quite, im currently using the helios 500 and would recommend to anyone.

How are you finding the Predator laptops?
I'm looking at pulling the trigger on a 144Hz 15" i5-8300 1050Ti variant for £530.

Whichever laptop you get make sure it has 2 sticks of ram, running in dual channel makes a big difference to framerates.

I'll have to look at getting a second ram stick then as I think it only has 8Gb.
