What's there to complain about though? It sounds like they're launching +10% performance for their mid tier and one high end cards and all of them will be $100 lower.

This will put pressure on AMD to drop the price of Radeon VII immediately and Navi will have to launch with very tight margins

RTX 2060 = $349
RTX 2070 = $499
RTX 2080 = $699

RTX 2060 Super = 2060 + 10% performance, $249
RTX 2070 Super = 2070 + 10% performance, $399
RTX 2080 Super = 2080 + 10% performance, $599

So after E3 many gamers who haven't yet upgraded should be able to buy a 2060/2070/2080 Super version or Navi or Radeon VII and pay less than they would today. So the customer wins

Thank you for taking the time to explain that, it does make sense, completely. And i was only commenting on the absurdity of micro upgrades in relation to the normal 2000 series and navi on the horizon.

Still overpriced.

This is obviously the "fix" for space invaders dressed up as an upgrade. They can't fix it because it's a manufacturing defect, so you have to replace the card. Nvidia customers clearly like ******* money away so they'll do it.

Wow, someone's bitter. Given there's no plans to release an upgraded 2080 Ti, that seems an unlikely hypothesis.

More likely this is exactly what it appears to be - NV trying to get the drop on AMD and Navi by restructuring their market and releasing some (slightly) faster cards.

I can't see it, 2060+10% = 2070. So Nvidia are going to release a card that currently costs $500 for $249? Then what does a regular 2060 cost? $200? Then the 1660ti? £160? And the 1660? £120?

That pricing structure makes no sense from Nvidia's perspective of profit maximisation. Unless they are simply dumping the current cards and these are tweeked overclocked versions

I guess that's got to be the plan if this info is good. EOL most of the current lineup and restructure the market prices downward significantly.

At those prices I might be interested in a 2070 super...

Was considering getting a second-hand 1080ti, but I might go with a 2070 "Super" if the price is okay-ish. Currently have a second-hand 1070 at 1200p 60Hz but I'll be moving to 1440p 144Hz+ by Xmas at the latest.

I agree, I can see more of a $30 cut at all levels instead of a $100 cut.

The question mark being if they get a 10% bump and if they get a 2070 down to $400 and a 2060 down to $250. 2060 will ofcourse only be 10% slower than a 2070 still and is essentially the exact same card. In theory if you flashed the 2060 with a 2070 bios you should get 2070 performance

Interesting times. I am after a new card for my son, or give him mine and upgrade myself. I was looking at a used card before. But if prices are on the way down then it might tempt me to get something new.

Halfway through their life and the cards are finally getting a price cut surely this can only be a good thing seeing as we have all been saying how expensive this round of NVIDIA cards have been.
It is obviously to combat AMD'S Navi range which kinda tells us where they will fall.

Cheaper cards all round can only be a good thing.

Exactly, this is the problem for me as an AMD wanter also, only now is there something similar after 2 years of that kinda performance from nvidia. Next year there will be a £1000+ replacement for the 2080ti and me and you both might go for a 2080ti instead

The real big % gains will mostly come in terms of RT performance from now on, but until RT takes off and more games adopt it Nvidia won't push new cards too fast.

I think it's going to be a lot of 30% raster performance improvements every 2 years at mostly higher prices. Which means it's gonna be a while before real 1080 ti upgrades will be below $1k.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if we get shafted on price.

More likely now that you mention it that the 2080 will go down in price to £499 to shift the remaining stock and compete with the radeon 7 and the 2080S will be £599 (or more) and faster to take it's place
