Are prices of the 2700x expected to drop much after the new cpus launch?

As title says. Had a 2700x sat in my basket for quiet some time and everyone is saying hang on for the new cpus. I've seen the expected prices but wanted to know if the older series will drop much in price. Right now the 2700x would last me a long time but if I wait and go for the newer stuff then that means getting the 570 mobo along with it which could be more expense added on.
Probably a stupid question I know but after a promotion at work this week I'm in the position to buy now and not have to save for a few months, so my wallet is getting itchy. I bought my 3570k late into its life so not sure about the price drop it received.
*edit: forgot I'd much rather buy new than second hand*

Dont think they will drop much more, more likely to go EOL shortly after Zen 2 launches.

All guesswork really, I dont think there will be the "flood" of ryzen 2000 chips the used market like people expect as they are still more than enough for gaming.

Can't imagine the price dropping enough to justify buying the older gen CPU. I think AMD/OCUK sometimes offer a good price on new to market stuff initially before the price creeps up so maybe be an early bird on the 3000 series? While a 2700X may last you a long time, the 3000 series will last you longer :).
Have patience in your wait for fresh new shiny.

If history repeats itself then you'll be getting them at excellent prices, you only need to look at the 1700/1700X/1800X prices after Ryzen 2xxx launched to see the effect it can have. :)

You don't have to buy an X570 mobo to go with it, this isn't Intel.

Decisions decisions.... I mentioned the x570 boards because some but not all 470 and 450 boards will be able to be flashed to pci 4.0? So if that's the case the 570 boards will be more "future proof"? Really noticing the lag in vr on my current set up at the min and dont want it to put me off using it so was thinking the fast upgrade may help with that. But then we are like 9days from the 3 series releases and by the time its delivered and installed it will be about 3 days until release. I dont like my brain sometimes lol

The 1700 is available now for £140. That's a £190 reduction after two years. The 3700 could be £140 after two years well.

For comparison, the 1700's competitor from 2017 - the i7-7700 is still a substantial £239.99!!! Here's the link

It puts me off buying a Ryzen 3000 CPU if the prices are going to drop like that. But then again, now that Ryzen 3000 is faster than Intel, they might hold their prices. I'm in a dilemma myself and unsure if I sure buy a cheap 1st gen Ryzen now and upgrade to Ryzen 3000 after 2 years when they're dirt cheap. I guess I'll wait for reviews and then decide.

They are floor range now imo. If they are gonna drop more it isn't worth the risk waiting. If you want that chip and see a bargain, grab it.

I'd think that the 2700X will be down to sub £200 once the 3xxx CPU's are in free stock, it might be a staggered drop, but I'm pretty confident they'll drop.

It all depends. If the rumours are correct and the 3600X is faster than the 2700X, maybe kinda pointless looking for 2700X and get a 3600X as they will be on same price points even after reductions.
As for X570, you can use a B450 board with a 3800X, a B550 next year or a X470. Also X570 boards aren't that expensive if you plan to buy a board. The X570 pro4 (mATX) is going to be around $179.

A bit, but not hugely. Partly due to demand almost certainly far outstripping supply of Ryzen 3 for months after launch. Partly because they don't have to - Intel are pricing way too high.

People seem to be very confused, AMD have not even EOL'd any of the 1xxx series yet, and they are now very cheap, shopping around you can find an R7 1700 for only £129, and the R5 1600 for ~£119. As I have already said, it will be a staggered drop, but given the CPU that is not being replaced is the 3900X, and the 3700X and 3800X are both 8c models, I'd say that stock of those will be plentiful. 2700X is ~£259 presently, it's can't hold that price against the 3700X at ~£289-299, but if it is held at £319-329 then in might not drop as fast. The real issue lies with the 3600X being better/faster than the 2700X but only being ~£229, then you've got really muddy waters, making the £259 2700X look bad value, so needing to be £199 or less.

I'll leave it there, and ask the buyers at work once the ordering goes live 2nd week of June. :)

Ryzen 1 CPUs are still available new, not sure why people think Ryzen 2 will go EOL any time soon. The new Ryzen 7 3700X basically replaces it and that's going to be ~£330 with similar clocks, so the 2700X even at its current ~£260 price is still relatively good value.

I got a 2700, B450 Tomahawk and 16GB 3200mhz Teamgroup RAM for £328 last week. I won the 2700 on fleabay for £150 on auction, nowt wrong with the chip. If you are willing to take the plunge second hand is a no brainer sometimes. You will probably be looking at £250 ish due to gouging for the 3600 on release and that's only a 6 core.
