Upgrade old motherboard memory

I have a ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 motherboard want to upgrade the memory to 16GB at the moment it as 8gb which is Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU).
I did purchase some memory from elsewhere Crucial CT2K102464BD186D 16 GB 2x8GB, couldn't get the memory to work, took out my old memory installed new crucial and booted pc, it promptly shut down, installed back my old memory pc boots up fine.
I ran the Crucial Advisor tool on crucial site, to make sure the memory was the right one.
Anyway going to return that memory.
So any advise on 16GB memory from overclockers uk would fit my motherboard with no issues.
BTW needs to be low profile, because of the heatsink from the cpu.

I'd suggest getting 2x 4gb sticks again of the same memory. Sounds like when you tried putting in another 16gb on top of your 8gb the mobo borked. There's maybe a 16gb limit on RAM for your motherboard

No i took out my old memory first before installing the new 2x8GB sticks, and my mobo is working fine with my old memory, it's not borked.

Get plain old ddr3 1600, not the DDR3L that you bought, you bought RAM that was faster and lower power so I'm not surprised that you had issues. DDR3L is low power ram normally for laptops, you would be better off getting some second hand 1600MHz DDR3(non L) RAM from EBay.
