It might, cooler clearance is 165mm same as the D15 height. But you should get the NH-D15S for three reasons:

Cheaper and only 1-2C warmer and slightly quieter
Better compatibility with PCie slots/RAM due to its asymmetrical design and will avoid having to raise the front fan above the RAM higher than 165mm as can happen with D15, because there is no front fan, only the centre fan.
The D15S is actually 160mm in height, not 165mm as the OcUK description states. So will work for sure in the H500.

H500 can be a warm case and you'd get better temps in something like Meshify C (10-15C) with an air cooler. Then again, you may have case or the cooler already?

H500 has 165mm CPU clearance.
NH-D15 is 160-165mm depending on how high fans set.

The problems you may encounter are:
1* Will fan it over RAM because with 165mm cooler clearance there is 170mm of room for fan to fit over most if not all RAM. This means a 140mm fan only leave 30mm of room for RAM to fit into.
2* Does your motherboard have enough clearance from center of CPU to x16 PCIe socket? If not D15 will block GPU socket.

What Danny75 said about NH-D15S.

If you already have NH-D15, running it with just middle fan give same performance as D15S. The real difference is D15S has base offset so there is only 67mm center CPU toward PCIe sockets and D15 is 75mm.

Thanks for the input guys.

I haev the H500 already..just considering the Noctua..

I am currently running the Noctua NH-U9S with two fans..

Is that still a sufficient cooler? Or will there be a big difference with the above?

NH-U9S on what CPU? U9S is good for quite a bit of heat. Worst I can see is it's fan will run fast enough for you to hear them, and you change to different, bigger cooler on down the road.
