Me too! Wow that's going back a bit.

and who remembers wireplay and those glorious 120 pings ! and then 50-65 pings when you finally invested in isdn :D

as for stadia i wouldnt touch it for anything other than single player games and even then if the lags too much i can see it failing hard. especially if it turns in to a money pit due to low uptake on subs.

How would these x570's or current x470's likely compare to my x370 taichi for running high ram speeds and cpu overclocking. Is it potentially worth me upgrading, or will high speed ram compatiblity be dependent on the memory controllers in the Ryzen 3000 chips?
I have Gskill ripjaws 3000mhz cl14 running at a slight overclock of 3200mhz because I don't know how to properly overclock my b die ram.

These teamgroup modules look like a good way to upgrade to 32gb as i can't find matching modules for mine at a reasonable price

Which would be better out of these 2 as well?

It might be 4,5GHz is on the cross point where you need a lot more voltage, look at the 480 vs 580 vs 590 (I dont this is the case myself)
It might be leakier silicon overcloking higher
It might be boost on 3800X are much higher than that 300mhz
It might be million other things

AMD can make 5x size Mi60/Vega 7 but cant make working 8 core chiplets for cpus, yeah right.....

Why do you keep repeating this when its NOT TRUE? Look at the cache sizes, its single die. Why would amd sell 3 die cpus with that low price when they cant throw those dies on Epyc and make some real money?

I'm willing to bet 10 quid that 1chiplet is 2x4core ccx BET ? Who said 1 chipled cant have 2ccx's in em ??

It's anyones guess at the minute. I have the same mobo and would like to keep it running until b550 comes along. The VRMs should be fine for the CPU overclock but memory overclocking is the question I am waiting to be answered. I expect to see improvements for the 'standard' ram speeds i.e. around 3200-3600 without the hassle, but I reckon getting into these high speeds that are being advertised will require a 5 series motherboard.

I think I need to ask amd for a cpu to be able to update to the newer bios? I saw it on reddit and never even thought about it until then.

The Ryzen 5 2600X at best only boosted at best 10% higher than a Ryzen 5 2600. It is why I got a Ryzen 5 2600 as the Ryzen 5 2600X was much more expensive. The same was true of the Ryzen 5 1600 and Ryzen 5 1600X.
It makes sense though as the 6 core parts should be less TDP limited than a part with 1/3 more cores.

i am very much hope the 3600x is a good CPU as that's what i am aiming for in my system.

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X: $329 (about £260, AU$480)
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800X: $399 (about £310, AU$580)

as mentioned, you missed off the addition of VAT. also the weakened £, and etailer gouging.

so outside of the few chips that AMD expects retailer to sell at MSRP...
i suspect that the 3700x is going to go for £375 at launch, and the 3800x for £450 at launch...

@humbug
I freaking knew it... There was no chance that yeld was this this high that they ware getting 6+ working cores on 8 core chiplets. so im back to 3700x vs 3800x theory of 2 chiplets on one of them !!!!

You seen Video I posted ?? Possible that one uses 2 4 core chiplets... SADLY.

I dont even understand what you are trying to say, that you were wrong the whole time and I was right and now you want to bet me on it?
Each die/chiplet is made from 8 core, 2 CCX cluster. 3800X and anything below it is one 8 core die (+ the IO die) that has 2 CCX.
Chiplet doesent mean CCX.

I think cpu with 2 chiplets 4 working cores in each can exist. Like lowest crappiest chiplets that got only 4 working cores in it. Could be great overclocker due to heat being spread over wider area.

Generally im super dissapointed that 1 chiplet is not pure 8 core part but got 2 freaking 4 core ccx's.

Infinity fabric is what holding my cpu from higher clock. I just hope IF is not tied down to memory speed like on Zen and Zen+ !!!!
