what do you think of that board. I was planning a full rebuild but the miserable sod in me doesn't want to pay for pci-e 4 lanes that i'll likely never use so giving serious consideration to just nabbing a 470/450 board before they go eol and get gouged to fekking bits.I'm keeping my B450 and installing a 3900x...
Ah, yes, the video you linked was highlighting that as the best of the B450 boards from a VRM pov. Still wonder if I might be pushing it with the 16 core & really only looking at the 16-core tbh.I'm keeping my B450 and installing a 3900x...
best B450 board for VRM is the asus b450 strix-eAh, yes, the video you linked was highlighting that as the best of the B450 boards from a VRM pov.
best B450 board for VRM is the asus b450 strix-e

but it is more expensive than the msi b450 carbon ac
technically it's a bit more as the delivery charges from the site that sells it for £115 is £15Both are £115.
b450 strix-f VRM is trash thoughStrix-f is £115.
Ah yes. No doubt about that. But tbh, better off spending an extra £15 for the strix-e and be good for 16 coresGood enough for up to 8 cores.
thing is that even the poverty x570 will have better vrms compared to these...OK, 2 B450 to look out for then, sure I could stretch for a lower x570 if I have to but always nice to get a bargain.
^^^This, if you're considering getting the flagship 3950x and working all cores - i would want the security of bottom tier x570 over a top tier b450 for the sake of 'possibly' ~£60 difference.thing is that even the poverty x570 will have better vrms compared to these...
As is hopefully should, it's the second best 'full' ATX b450 (VRMs) on the market.I'll be using my MSI Pro Carbon B450 for a 3900X....It will work fine....

Lol @ the mock outrage already from the Intel fans... The price of x570 is because of PCIE4 and ensuring you can OC your shiney new Zen2 and Ram to max.
There is NOTHING stopping you buying x470 higher end boards (Hint Taichi X470 is £184) and getting similar performance out of Zen2 minus PCIE4 and let's be honest AMD have the only PCIE4 cards at the moment and they are overpriced and underwhelming so I pretty much think most people arent jumping in to x570 for the GPU alone.
Just buy high end previous gen if your not after Wifi6 or PCIE4 lol or even NVME raid...
Some people on these forums love their mock outrage, it's quite hilariously sad to read on an almost daily basis.
No one has said Zen2 only runs on x570, the fact B550 is going to be on ASMedia chips (aka x470) tells you all you need to know, buy a decent x470 now before their prices go up or they become EOL, in a few months after release most of those overpriced x570 boards will be dropping in price anyhow due to lackluster sales performance
To clarify I did say "'hopefully' should" - i would certainly want to strap on a premium cooler if using 3900X with a Pro Carbon. If you didn't need the 12 cores the board would be more comfortable with a 3800X.
