Someone also said the same source had a 197 point single core.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those look like fairly similar prices to the Intel equivalent.
All these months of hype, and there's that little difference in cost? Gotta laugh.

The 3400G is just a slightly refreshed 2400G so not worth getting over the 2400g especially on how low they go for now.

Now im a bit stuck at knowing which way to go, if its true that the Ryzen 5 2600 is going to drop to to less than £100 do i get a the Ryzen 5 2600 and a cheap video card or just get the APU as planned.

Surely the Ryzen 5 2600 is going to be much more powerfull than the 2400g and with me being a none game player i dont need powerfull graphics

If you don't game then I would go for the Ryzen 5 1600 which is likely to drop even further and pick up a discrete GPU like the GT 1030.

Could you make use of the extra cores and more system memory (thinking of the future too)?

If so, 2600 and a discrete/passive GPU.

The iGPU actually acts as a heat sync because it's a cold part of the silicon that the heat from the cores can leak into, removing it to replace it with another two hot cores will just increase the thermal density.

Then there's the added power consumption, taking the 9900K to 250 Watt's, add that to the increased thermal density and you have more of a problem.

I do think it's possible they can squeeze a bit more and even spread out a bit to reduce the thermal density. If you look at this die reference, you can see massive the igpu actually is. And while it can semi perform heat spread duties, it's not ideal due to its placement.

I still don't think there's an engineering commitment that's worth it for a low volume part even if they could.

They seem to be a touch on the higher side was hoping the 3600x £229 and 3700x £279
