No... beyond 8C 16T i don't think there is any scaling

Then you obviously know much more about Zen2 than AMD do themselves  ?
Oh hang on, " i don't think there is any scaling"..........................AMD obviously do, just for the record the 3950x will have 2 cherry picked CCX's that neither you or i know what they are capable of yet. One thing is for sure though, it will be a much better SKU than all the SKU's below it. If by your own analysis the 3800x will match the 9900k, then the 3950x will blow it out of the water.

Ok so I'll wait for those but currently my comment still stands right?

How do you work that out?
With several much faster chips in the product stack to come its a bit premature to be declaring Intel still king of gaming.
Also even if single threaded games come out close to each other the massive multicore advantage that Zen seems to have over intel is enough to swing it - a cpu is not just about how fast one of its cores can run at.

I suspect the 9900 and 3700 will be close (within 3%) of each other in gaming, the 3800 a bit faster (5%) and the 12 /16 core monsters handing the 9900KS its ass when it comes out.

Humbugs being realistic.
You can't force something to use more cores.

We'll have to see reviews but given there's currently no mainstream 12C parts I can't see why many games would scale to 12C and beyond

Obviously there will be exceptions, but they will be the rule.

It'll be interesting to see just how many games do scale well and which ones yield nigh on identical results 3800X to 3900X

I am now pretty confident we can go with these estimates for the rest of Ryzens as R5 3600 fits bang on:

R5 3600 +9% - Single 480, Multi 3500 (MP Ratio 7.4x)
R5 3600X +13% - Single 500, Multi 3700
R7 3700X +15% - Single 506, Multi 4750 (MP Ratio 9.4x)
R7 3800X +19% - Single 524, Multi 4925
R9 3900X +21% - Single 530, Multi 7700 (MP Ratio 14.5x derived from 12-core TR 1920X)

Does this mean things are looking good for x370 boards working with 3000 chips without any performance penalty? My asus prime pro x370 has updated bios for the new chips and I don’t intend to change it for a newer board. Think I’m going with a 3700x.

I hope so although it depends on the motherboard manufacturers if they decide to release Beta BIOSes supporting new Ryzens.
