Android - can you extend screen notification times?

I have a Huawei P30 Pro which I love to bits. But a few things annoy me about the Android OS. One of which is the notifications on the home screen which pop up when you received a message, text, FB notification etc. They appear and vanish far too quickly. Is there a way to extend the length of time they stay on the home/lock screen for?

I'm sure I read this is part of the Huawei EMUI feature to save power? ...so might not be an 'Android' thing as such.
