Having used them in the past, I can wholeheartedly say I will not be ever using them again.
Absolutely useless staff and management that do not know consumer law. I had to take a controller back due to it falling apart within a few days of purchase. They weren’t interested in helping me out at all.

Left and ended up getting it replaced by Microsoft without any hassle. All game staff kept saying is you should have bought the accidental damage insurance. Like why the **** would I buy one?? You don’t expect a controller to fall apart after a few days do you?? The new one has lasted over a year now so I get it things can break apart but surely within 30 days they should replace it.

Anyhow will never set foot inside their shops again.

i don't understand how a controller would fall apart either was it second hand?

otherwise i'm guessing you threw it at a wall or dropped it?

i've never had a controller fall apart on any console. they are pretty well made.

Neither do I and no I don’t throw controllers around.

Maybe it was second hand but when I bought it, it looked brand new.

But still having worked in retail for many yrs in management. Their level of service leaves a lot to be desired for.

No wonder their business model is going down the pan.

well controllers are usually in a sealed box. you would know if it was second hand or not. it would be obvious. plus they usually have sticky stuff which tears plastic or packaging when removed or plastic you need to cut through. if it was second hand then if i was a shop i'd be on your side. but if it truly was brand new i'd say take it up with manufacturer as i would then be assuming you damaged it. as they are pretty robust.

just my view on it.

Were you born yesterday?

Its pretty clear in Game if something is new or used and is priced to reflect this.

Excuse me?? Did you read any of my previous posts regarding my issue?? It looked brand new as the box was sealed, it was sold as brand new.

So do me and everyone a favour and get back into your box. No one asked for your opinion.

Don’t get your small beans into a twist because game are absolute idiots when it comes to customer service.

How long did you have the controller? As you only get 7 days to return a product when purchased in store so it's your own fault of it happened outside that time frame like everyone else said I've never had a controller break on me even when dropping it from 4-5ft height

sorry mate but you're spouting rubbish

If this was faulty and not down to user damage then he was well within his rights to request a replacement. which they should have
If faulty he didn't even need a receipt tbf

As for 2nd hand or new... Was it in a box or just some cellophane style wrap?

Like most retail outlets the customer service experience will vary, but the Game in Northampton and MK doesn't seem to bad in terms of customer service. They are still great for hidden gem games that are on console system.
I managed to find Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise at the MK store for £30 brand new which is quite difficult to find at that price now online or available to order.
They are still definitely worth checking if you're after finding hidden gems for current gen system.

Can't believe the flack your getting for everyone thinking you've smashed the controller or it was second hand.

I actually sold a spare xbox one controller, still had the batteries wrapped and controller was untouched really, I got a used price when selling but actually couple of days later i see a very similar same box being sold as new prices. Btw that was CEX so I believe GAME could easily do the same. Especially if they think oh we can just repackaged clean it up and slap a £40 or whatever sticker on it.

It could be a faulty controller or poorly built but I'm pretty sure they are all tested / quality checked.

It could be a poorly built one that didn’t pass their QC checks, it happens. I’ve worked years in retail and get that sometimes items do break down or are faulty right from the off.
What got my goat was that they point blank refused to do anything about it other than call up technical services and send it away for them to look at. I mean I only had the controller a few days and it’s falling apart. They were implying it was through wear and tear which is absolute nonsense as I don’t game 24-7 and I baby my controllers.
As I said it was brand new as in sealed box.

As for the person saying I have 7 days?? Absolute rubbish being spouted off there lol.

If it was brand new and it had now fallen apart. could you be more specific here? had the rubber on the sticks gone? because if so that is a common issue and sony replaced mine with a new DS4 as they did have a bad batch of rubber sticks. if the plastic had cracked open or buttons fell off then that would highly unusual and I could see why it would be assumed you had damaged it, not saying that is right and they should have replaced it depending on the time between sale and defect but I would be thinking this guy clearly got rage and threw the controller if it had truly "fell apart".

if it was rubber on the sticks then that was common and totally the manufacturers fault.

If it weren't for the fact they had numerous Collectors Edition packages exclusively in the UK I wouldn't bother using them, they've messed me about with my Mario Maker pre-order and have gone to Nintendo directly. I gather once I receive my Cyberpunk CE I'll never use Game again.

Yeah, I really do wonder how they manage to secure so many of those. Although CEs in general are just far too expensive for me to even consider these days.

Bought two PS4 games only last week from my local Game. Never had an issue. I support my high street and town centre wherever I can. If it means spending an extra pound or two so be it.

it's because they are the only specialist store. I believe they still sell a lot of consoles and games it's just rent and rates are too high. you would probably be surprised at their turnover. a lot of people still like shopping there especially kids and parents who are buying for kids.

i agree though CE should be sold everywhere but it looks like game as a deal in place with most if not all publishers.

you have to remember game stores do a lot of advertising for them to the people who are even just coming in for a browse.

On a subject of controllers failing, my older bro bought brand new white PS4 with Destiny at the time and his controller failed within a couple days and had to get replaced.
Luckily my local game store offered him a camo PS4 controller brand new as replacement and has not had any issues and customer service been very good.
You can get faulty controllers regardless whether they are new or used, if the retailer where you bought it from offers poor customer service then it will put you off going there again.
I try to support them as much as I can, they may charge a bit more than other websites but they have for me always been reliable for having stocks of games i'm after and special editions if available.
