Hello

Need help buying a GPU, i have a DELL S2719DGF freesync, so looking at 120fps at 1440p. The rest of my specs are i7 9700k @ 5Ghz, Z390 Gaming Mobo and 16gb of RAM.

I would ideally like to spend around £400ish

Are you suggesting the Vega 64 because i have free sync? im sure it doesnt matter due to nvidia having new drivers or something or is that the best card? how would i compare to a 1080ti?

On the road....
If you don’t mind a second hand card, a 1080ti will smash your requirements with ease, my nephew has one which was a replacement for a Vega 64, imo (and his!) the 1080ti is the better card.

(I’ve got a 1080ti which I run @4K)

I’d be looking for a used one with transferable warranty, ideally.

If you want new which is understandable, the Vega is still a sound buy though.
And I wouldn’t touch the 20xx series with a barge pole. :p

I believe it's currently the best value for money, and a great card for 1440p. But if you want to buy used, then it sounds like you already have something in mind.

Cant give a link to competitors. Ive given you enough info to find it though ;)

Interesting, whys that?

If you are buying AMD Gigabyte and Asus coolers don't do as good a job as Sapphire and Powercolor.

In the £300-400 bracket the Vega 64 is the best card new. If you can bag a 1080ti with warrenty for a similar price then that's money well spent.

1080ti or 2080 with a 9700k. You've bought a brilliant CPU, should pair it with a brilliant GPU. at 1440p tho, u could get away with AMD. I'd go for a radeon VII.

If £400 is max then Vega 64 like others have said, but I would spend the extra and get a 2080 when the Super cards come out it might drop the current 2080's a little bit. You can get a 2080 for £650 at the mo and it will be a beast at 1440p 144hz

£400 isnt max I could stretch a couple of hundred pounds , but was thinking that when PS5 etc come out that ray tracing will become more of a thing so thats what puts me off the 1080ti, maybe i will just wait and see what these super cards bring to the table, hopefully maybe get a 2080 cheaper on an auction site

I would be impressed if next gen consoles can actually push 60 FPS @ 1080p.
Chances are they will, but with Ray Tracing? Not a chance considering the RTX 2060 cannot do it
