Looks like some of these chips are hitting power limiters, until thats resolved the overclocking and some actual stock benches will be lower.

This is why i do 4.2Ghz all core at 1.365v.. PBO i was seeing up to, and sometimes over 1.5v on my 2700X
I had tamed it a little bit after tweaking but was still around 1.45v, too high for me.
TaiChi is RRP here. The other place(s) are offering a chunky discount.

Went for 3700x, that performance vs it's power use is incredible. what beast these chips are !
So I can breath easy knowing there are sensible motherboards priced around £200.
Think I'll sit on this for a few days for some breathing room, see how things go then make my choice. If I was hasty I would have ordered a 3700X and a Gigabyte Aorus Elite.

The RRP is stupid compared to competing brands I think. So I can see why Asrock might have changed their price at the last second.
Where? The only other place I see the Taichi has it for pre-orderOrdered x570 Taichi and 3800x elsewhere, should get them tuesdaygives me enough time to do some benchies on my current rig to compare, should be a decent uprade.

The gaming x at sub £190 with 10+2 and aorus elite with 12+2 at sub £210 seem like very good value compared with higher end boards and especially when you consider overclocking doesn't seem to yield much.
That's the price to be paid for architecture innovation I'm afraid. Same happened with X99 and Ryzen 1, but it should improve over the next month or two.
Rainforest can't even confirm if the CPUs will be available today or not, so ordered from here instead. Reviews look about what I expected so happy with that.

So, 7-3700X is on par with i9-9900K.
The power consumption is bad considering that 7nm is supposed to lower it, not to increase it..

I'm going by hardware unboxed numbers not crappy techpowerup where a 9900k use the same power as a 9600k lol.

Will the CPU increase in performance over the next few months? I'm wondering if I should go 2700x and another 16gb ram so I have 8 core 32gb setup especially for cities skylines. Would I come to regret it would I see cyberpunk running much better with 3700x? Or 2700x extra 16gb ram and in future new GPU?
3700X is considerably faster than the 2700X. The price difference is £60? I don't think that is worth it.
