Gamers Nexus showed the overclocked 2070 Super sitting comfortably ahead of an overclocked Radeon Vii (and 5700XT). His tests show the 2070 Super in a rather compelling light.
Which is why 980Ti owners should keep an eye on the 2080S imho. Under liquid that might be the first product in a very long time worthy of an upgrade because of its unlocked potential to OC past stock 2080Ti. Yes its obviously going to cost £600+ but it might just have enough oomph to be worthy of consideration.

I'm likely going to upgrade from my 980ti to either a 2070 Super or wait around to see what big Navi and Nvidia bring out on (hopefully) a new node

Imo unless you're hyped about RTX waiting is a better proposition. I think value wise next year is going to be a lot more fierce since they have to compete with next-gen consoles.

i would get the 2070 super for £475 getting tired of my 980ti i have to play apex and BFV on low to get 100fps which is needed with my x34 so i might just bite the bullet too and get a founders one.

I think I'll probably end up going with whoever releases the partner boards the soonest out of the 2070 super and the 5700xt. I'm a little too impatient to wait for the 2080 supers unfortunately and may even just go for the regular 2070 super if the partners are going to be a while away.

as a 980Ti owner myself I don't follow the logic of upgrading to a 2070S because you might as well have had a 1080Ti for the past 2yrs for what £150 more (until the prices went loopy)

Imho 980Ti owners are faced with all manner of unpalatable options that personally I'd avoid unless your card fails. I'd wait it out at the very least until the 2080S price/perf is known but ideally when big Navi and 7nm 3000 series (ampere?) comes in about a year. Otherwise you're just getting poor value remember an overclocked 980Ti is close to stock 1080 perf.

What I would say is more interesting is the effect 2070S will have on 2nd hand 1080Ti cos why on earth would they be worth more than £350-ish now you might as well get a 2070S.

How i have voiced my opinion. Hindsights a wonderful thing. I wish i had got a GTX1080ti back in the day but couldnt justify cost/performance over my recently purchased new GTX980ti for £350. Thought id hold out for the RTX2080ti (but then it came out with insane price) or be able to by a GTX1080ti for sub £400 as expected a price drop and look how it all turned out.

The RTX2070 SUPER has only marginally improved the situation but not by enough in all honesty. I feel as a GTX980ti owner having skipped the GTX1080ti already and only been offered pretty much the same thing rebranded as RTX2070SUPER you might as well see if you can stretch to the RTX2080SUPER which i suppose is an improvement & you did save money not splashing out last time, or better yet just wait it out.

I am currently in the same boat i have a EVGA 980ti sc (The best card i have ever bought) was crazy money when i bought it and it still holds up but i can see my self waiting for the next lineup of cards, unless i can get a 2070 super for under 500 euro

Also think next year will be more competitive with the ps5 and new xbox coming out si i wil probably wait till these specs are released

Thinking similarly, I'm sat with a GTX 1070 but after having it for 3 years now, I'm getting a bit itchy for an upgrade. Don't know if 2070S is the way forward though or to just hold off for another year.

The 1070 to 2070 was a noticable upgrade for me, so a jump to the 2070S would be more than worth it.

I'm waiting to see the results of a 2080 Super, otherwise I'll go 2080ti. Was playing the division 2 last night, 980ti on Ultra settings 1440p, 50fps, thankfully I have GSync to ease my pain slightly.

I also wish I'd upgraded to 1080Ti at the time but I held out waiting for 20 series.
That when launched just wasn't a great value proposition - 2080 at same price point as 1080Ti offering very little performance improvement. Very disappointed with the launch.

To me 2070s corrects that by finally offering those performance levels at a tier lower and in comparison is a much better deal.

Other upside is that at this price point I'm not as bought into the card and might not wait so long for the next upgrade :p

Things are looking brighter for the next gen - big Navi, new consoles and maybe Intel doing something should make things a little more competitive

Another potential 2070Super buyer here... I've been out of the loop for a while, as I have a habit of switching off from what's new/upcoming when I'm not immediately looking to upgrade something. And so, the 2070 Super is breaking news to me. I've been periodically monitoring 2080Ti prices but see that they're still an eye watering price; I simply cannot (will not) stretch that far.

Currently have a 980Ti, which I think despite being a good card, is the 'bottleneck' (not in the technically sense, more that it's now just ageing compared to the rest of the system) in my PC, especially now that I've just discovered Wabbajack for Skyrim SE and I game at 3440x1440p...

Will a 2070 Super at circa £480 being a worthwhile upgrade for my 980Ti? I'd assume I could probably get £150 ish for that which would soften the blow to the wallet a bit, or it would at least pay to double my RAM up to 32GB...

So my upgrade path was going to be easy 980 Ti > 1080 Ti > 2080 Ti but nVidia stuffed that up with the 2080 Ti pricing. So 2070S being a 1080 Ti equivalent I believe would be my choice from a 980 Ti now.

I actually used my 980 Ti a lot longer as a 2nd system than I had planned and it's only recently gone to my brother to replace his i5 3570K + HD5850 gaming system I built him. That's an i7 5820K system the same as my current system with the 1080 Ti. So I'm now wanting to do a system upgrade myself but with no worthy GPU I'm going to do the CPU/Mobo end of November maybe and then wait till something else next year to upgrade the 1080 Ti.
