It is an Lenovo IdeaPad 510S-14ISK 2 1/2 years old well looked after.

Started today. When I made a folder and named it and pressed enter to open it - it deleted the folder!

In MS Word when I press Delete it types "z"

If I write and use Enter it only works once - so cannot Enter to add multiple lines in a Word Doc.

The on screen keyboard works fine (Windows + R osk = keyboard Delete and Enter work normally).

Does that mean that the keyboard is physically on the fritz?

Any advice (aimed at a rookie) appreciated, thank you.

Hi thanks for the reply, external keyboard works fine.............I wonder if it is the physical keyboard on the lappy which is broken........will try a replacement.

What do you think?

Not sure what linux would do for me? What did you have in mind? pod

Ah I see what you mean, so it would test the physical keyboard in the lappy...........if it still types zzzz and return is flaky then that suggests the physical KB is knackered.

LCT thank you so much for that. Will try and post back when I have some tinkering time.

Sounds like it might be a stuck key that stops the keyboard operating properly. I had to replace my sisters keyboard on her laptop as it was doing weired stuff, only cost £11 and it was sorted.
