@Gibbo thanks for that. I'm seeing it's July 23rd for the 2080S.
I'll keep an eye out for the launch.

The second hand 10xx series cards are the way to go. Save some money and wait for the next cards.
Who didn't leave that button pressed in?You forgot the "Turbo" branding in the 80s!!! Same thing

As do we all my friendMeh, I couldn't care less about the naming convention or marketing. How close will it get to the 2080ti performance, that's what interests me as the price is within my target area. I will no doubt rule the purchase out when the time comes, but will keep my ear to the ground nonetheless.

I’d go as far as saying closer to £150 too expensive in each tier.Still looks £70 too expensive for the tiers and more like the hardware they should have released at launch for those tiers and even then that is stretching it a bit.
That's true but we all know that's not going to happen. The 30xx series will be some kind of record breaker in regards to price.Naming conversion aside, the prices are still out of line and too high. That should be the reason to wait/keep your wallet closed, not the name.

Now that you've mentioned it, it was rather strange that they are calling these new Navi releases the "57xx". It is almost like they are reserving the labelling of "58" and "59"...Nah, not if the rumours of the AMD 5800-series being dropped in Jan are any indicator. If they can push it close to 64 CU's (ie Faster than 2080Ti) then nVidia are gonna have a hell of a fight on their hands Power envelope may not allow though, maybe a 56 CU part might be top. All guesses at present.

We will spending on our electric bills what we have saved on the GPUSNah, not if the rumours of the AMD 5800-series being dropped in Jan are any indicator. Sadly, when was the last time AMD were genuinely competitive at the high-end of graphics cards? It's been a while.
Tbf in some games even if the 5800-series is 30% faster it'll be flying!

They aren’t really tied though.£390 for a 5700XT and given the card are more or less tied in performance against the 2070s I honestly thought it would make Nvidia more competitive.
