Can I assume the Carbon Max would also come loaded up with the most up to date bios that supports R3000 removing the need to flash without a CPU? Do you think boards which don't have the ability to flash without a CPU will get the Max treatment, as that unlocks a lot of new boards...

Just before I stalled me 3600x I updated me bios on my b450 tomahawk to version 1.80, restarted as you do and was presented with something that resembled a throwback to the 90s! All me pretty graphics and colours have gone and I'm looking at just black and white script.
Works ok does what it should but it looks 'orrible, I want my old appearance/layout back:)

Maybe Pro Carbon already have bigger ROM just they didnt made seperate proper Click BIOS 5 update, and used beta GSE Lite version just to release it quicker.

I only got a very brief glimpse of the 'new' lite bios before my system started completely refusing to post. Lots of other people having the same issue on the MSI support forums. My board has been RMA'd.

If anyone else is having trouble with a B450 pro carbon and 3700x then the latest bios worked for me. The one currently on the MSI main page just gave a CPU led error, but it booted first time after flashing with the following.

New BIOS version 7B85v18 for the B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC released on official support page. Not sure if it's identical to the one from their FTP server.

Looks promising, hopefully the end of people struggling to flash their boards.
I would have liked to have an official statement from MSI about their intention to, or not, support Zen 3 on their B450 lineup nonMax boards. As I can live with the lite BIOS but not lack of support for future AM4 socket CPUs. I think they will support it anyway as it would be PR suicide, but it has made me wait for the Max release.

Maybe; but anyone should just send it back if they don't receive a MAX board. These boards are not just like another revision, where the only sign the board is the latest revision, is printed on the board itself. They are named 'MAX' on the box. If the retailer sends anything else; you haven't received what was ordered. Would suck though, having to wait to return and receive the correct board.

Only if they're purchasing a Max board. If they've purchased a regular B450 board then it's tough ****.

Oh of course. I did mean though if they bought a MAX board and got the other.

Edit: Speaking of the Tomahawk MAX; I see OcUK have it listed in place of the old Tomahawk. No mention of when; just says out of stock.
