Any point in upgrading 1080ti - I game @ 1440 Res

Anyone upgraded from 1080TI , From looking at Bench marks its maybe 20 FPS Boost max seems a little pointless when you take in to account on ultra / High you are getting 60 FPS with the 1080ti @ 1440 Res Still on the latest titles still.

The only gain I see is maybe If I jump on the 4K Gaming but Don't feel its worth it yet.

Not at all. You're paying £1000+ for a ~30% upgrade with the 2080 Ti, which is absurd. The 2080 Super will be cheaper, but it's also still going to be a lot slower than the 2080 Ti, given the massive disparity in CUDA cores between the two. Hopefully Nvidia 7nm and big Navi will actually move things forward next year.

No, your waiting for nVidia 7nm or Navi 20, next year for both (prolly) Just chill for now, or wander over to the CPU and motherboard sections :p

Got a similar set up to yours and I am not upgrading yet either. I will be looking for at least at 2080 Ti performance for £500 or less next year.

Same here really, I've got a 100fps, 3440x1440 monitor and would love to turn up more of the eye candy.

I've been seriously considering a 2080Ti but the prices are horrific in comparison to previous top end cards.

I'll wait and see how much of a gain there is from the 2080S compared to the 2080Ti and make a decision.

I'd even consider another 1080Ti if SLI wasn't rubbish these days.

Short answer: No

Long answer: Nooooooooooo

Seriously. Wait another cycle and get the next gen tbh. I would say Raytracing is going to be bigger, AMD should be supporting then with a mix of hardware/software and you can actually use that tech hopefully then unlike now making most upgrades pointless.

The only reason I see anyone really upgrading now is if they are on Nvidia 7xx series or similar tbh.

I wouldn't. I think I'm going 1070 to 2070 super but that will only get me to 1080ti level which I would have had alreasy if it wasn't for my ITX case/psu. No way I would be upgrading if I had a 1080ti and I game mostly 1440p

I would have upgraded my 1070 (running UW 3440x1440) to a 2070S if Asus had it as part of their trade in, but if I had a 1080Ti I wouldn't bother.

As it is, I'll stick to my original plan and see what 2020 brings.

what about a 1080 Strix owner? i have a 4k samsung and my desktop is 144hz gsync 1440x2560

I'm in the same boat. But I think for the reasons mentioned above in this thread we should wait for the next gen.

I've been contemplating 2070 Super or 2080 Super but we will regret it next year with the 7nm GPUs from Nvidia and the improved RTX. (Speculation)

I've set April 2020 and the release of Cyberpunk 2077 as my target.

I think it's generally the case that it makes economical sense to skip a generation anyway.

Thought any 1070 qualified?
