ITV aired a documentary on China's persecution of Uighur Muslims last night, did anyone watch it?
If you're wondering why very contained outrage? Probably because they're Muslim and the amount of money China pumps into various countries around the world. Similar to the when Khashoggi was murdered in Turkey by S.A. Money can go along way in assuaging peoples (other governments) outrage.

Is this thread about how we should be outraged at China or how we should be outraged at 'the left' for not being constantly outraged at China?

Well it's both, the left have made a huge deal out of things like Trump's travel ban to 7 majority Muslim countries and temporary holding facilities at the border for illegal immigrants, the cries have been that he's a 'fascist', 'racist', 'white supremacist', 'authoritarian', 'dictator' which is illogical nonsense to anyone without Trump derangement syndrome but then you look at China where all of those things apply. Okay, not white supremacists granted but the documentary made it clear that the Chinese government and a lot of ethnic Chinese see the Uighur Muslims as an inferior race to ethnic Chinese.

So given that the left seemingly do not protest or even take any interest in millions of oppressed people in China do they really care about ethnic minorities at all or is it just a political bat to hit Trump over the head with whilst appearing 'woke' themselves? why weren't they protesting in London during Xi's official visit? why did Corbyn meet Xi and not Trump?

We hear lots about Russia who have made out to be a huge boogey man in recent years but no mention of China which seems to be becoming everything the left have feared in Trump and more and yet people don't seem to care and just attack Trump for sanctioning China.

The implications of China's digital police state goes far wider as well, like MonkeyMan mentioned once they've exported 5G networks worldwide they could probably spy and build databases on foreign citizens and that information could be used for all manner of things such as influencing foreign elections/politicans. Knowing Facebook they would probably get into bed with China and assign everyone a social credit score generated by the Chinese and their corporate buddies would boycott people with a low score. Meanwhile, the left are busy frothing about Trump and Russia.

Western powers won't intervene as it's a domestic problem a long way off. In fact I don't even think the UN will "allow" that.

Myanmar has been very careful to keep it contained inside their own borders.

Same with Armenia and Rwanda, no one gives a **** if they don't have oil (gotta protect that petrodollar), are brown or both (especially both).

So many reasons. Not enough people care enough. Those that do and live there can't do anything. Those that do and don't live there can't do anything. Plus the Chinese state-owned news and propaganda machine.

We are all contributing to the problem by biying Chinese goods. The only real pressure that can be brought to bear is economic. But we would all scream about it if our cheap electronics stopped being so cheap.

Probably the same reason there aren't big protests against Saudi Arabia, white liberals attacking and insulting brown world leaders will be seen as racist, so these countries are allowed to carry on killing gay people, locking up religious minorities and committing a whole bunch of other human rights abuses.

The liberal left blind spot is Israel, its ok to racist towards Jews.

There aren't big protests because there's no point, the establishment (you know mostly conservative war hawks and grifters) protects Saudi Arabia at every turn, just like it protects China. And frankly why is protesting a country putting people in camps the same as just protesting a country in general... there's no equivalence, you just wanted to make a ****** remark.

There is also an element of you sort of expect a country that shouts about how it's the defender of democracy and law and order in the world, to be slightly better in it's treatment of people than a dictatorship.

I thought the "establishment" also protects Israel, theres definitely a lot of protecting going on.

It seems like the only ones the "establishment" are not protecting is themselves, the ORANGE MAN BAD brigade is certainly not shy of criticising those they see as being part of the "establishment".

It does and i have no idea what you mean by the latter, Trump is as establishment as it comes, though more of a sycophant to the real American families before seemingly changing tune.
