AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Well i guess i just like overclocking CPU's and GPU's.. RAM and other stuff can stay at stock, i'm not trying to break any records here

But with bclk you are overclocking cpu and gpu and memory at same time hehe. I gained few point here and there on gpu side of things from jumping on higher bclk. Thats why I used 102 and 204 on my 2700x

Ryzen overclocking is more about memory anwyay. Not as much on Zen2 but atm i got 3733cl14 1500% pass stable and its BIT faster than my 3633cl14. Have not had time to play with more timings yet

With Intel being "better for gaming" etc, I think for people who upgrade every year or so and don't really care about cash the 9700K is a good choice for gaming, but if you're going to keep the CPU/board for 3+ years then the extra cores of the 3700x or 3900x are almost certainly going to work out better.

The 9900K seems harder to justify, as games aren't going to need more than 8 high clocked cores within 2 years, the 9700K at the same clock is basically the same in gaming, and the 3900x beats it in every other way.

for me its 3 simple CPUs

3900x (x570 )over 9900k - editing / workloads/ streaming
9700k ( z390) over 3800x/3700x for pure gaming with high budgets
3600 (B450 ) over 3600x/9600k for mainstream gaming

The 3600, though, will age better cos of smt. This the 9700 in ACO. In 2019.

I just ordered laser termometer so i can check what sort of temps are mem kits running at with my fan lowing at em

following advice on reddit I will be backing out my trefi settings, dont know yet how far, but they wont be kept at maximum.

Going on the video it seems undervolting can increase maximum boost clocks.

yeah thats expected it be the same as ryzen 2 in that respect.

XFR will throttle if temps are too high, less volts = less heat.

I wondered why the test for that video was at 1080p then my brain switched on. So, if it's only about 6% at 1080, it must be negligible at 4k or ultrawide.

1080p is the most common resolution.

with that said tho the most common hardware is also much lower than a 3900X or 9900K, so I think that 1080p test should have been something like a 3600 or 3600X vs something like an i5 or even i3 cpu, whatever was closest to 3600(X) at price point.

The test with those enthusiast chips should have been 1440p or 4k.

i was having problems with heat on my 3900x when pbo and xfr boosting and even hitting the 95 deegress my msi x570 really liked to to put 1.5v though it to achive it so i decided to do a all core oc and most youtubers and other people said 4.3ghz was about amx i started at 1,4v and keeped going down and my 3900x is at 4.3ghz at 1.25v inh bios and completly stable i was very suprised by this.

the problem is people benchmark on 2080ti and use 720p and 1080p to show the performace as a 2080ti is outpacing 1080p by a lot these days But people think that becouse a 2080ti is performing better at 1080p on intel i7 or i9 then no mater what i7 and i9 are better at gaming

but its not just the cpu who would really pair a 2080ti with a r5 3600? or even game at 1080p really spending 1k on a gpu 1440p and 4k and ukltrawide is more lickly.

and then even on my 2080 non ti at 1080p the few reviews i could find who used a 1080ti (basicly the same sort of range as my 2080) on a danish site had the i7 and i9 within margain of error at 1080p 1440p and 4k

Needs DX12 like TD2. . even though 100% , guessing it would have a higher frame rate then ryzen at 1080p and 1440p using same GPU .

Haven't tweaked anything yet but CPU is getting 1.475V currently and seems to be boosting to >1450 but it's all a bit random at the moment so I'm going into the BIOS now.

You do see higher boost clocks problem is voltage is to low to maintain the clocks so performance takes a serious nose dive, in my personal tests about %25

Ha, that's similar to how I went.
I did a brilliant job on my paste etc and managed to bork the AIO install and my system was shorting out.

Seeing people hit 95C on their 3700X and 3900X is a bit alarming TBH.
