Apologies if this is inappropriate but my son has asked me if this is a good deal !

He has found a gaming pc for sale on facebook and is unsure if it would be a good start for a gaming pc.
Specs as follows.

Case: Fractal Design R6 with Tempered Glass
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600
Motherboard: Gigabyte AX370 - Gaming K7
RAM: 16GB 3000mhz DDR4 (Dominator Platinum)
GPU: ASUS 1070 Strix Edition
Storage: 1x480gb and 1x120gb SSD's
Cooling: Corsair H100i V2
Monitor: Acer KG271

According to the pictures, (there is one showing the build cost) which comes to £1667, and he is selling for £850
It would be my sons own money and I am not qualified enough to advise him. Any help gratefully accepted.

@needleworks

x370 aorus k7 has 6 Vcore phases , ir3553 rated at 40 amps so have 240 amps across the vcore which isn't to bad and better then most 90% of B450 boards and 50% of X470 boards

HAMMER IT DOWN as @tamzzy mentioned then stick a £188 ryzen 3600 in it! haha

f40 and f41c bios update

https://www.gigabyte.com/uk/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-K7-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

build costs for hardware go out the window when new gens come in! ignore what they built it for and react to current market now

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £836.43 (includes shipping: £19.62)

some b-grade items used but still have longer warranty at 30/90 days then buying an old system off an unknown etc

Case: Fractal Design R6 with Tempered Glass
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600 - £99 new
Motherboard: Gigabyte AX370 - Gaming K7- Better board for £90 new.
RAM: 16GB 3000mhz DDR4 (Dominator Platinum) £65 for equivalent speed RAM
GPU: ASUS 1070 Strix Edition - <£200 will get you a card as fast
Storage: 1x480gb and 1x120gb SSD's - £45-50 worth of SSD's
Cooling: Corsair H100i V2 - £100 cooler, it looks nice but complete overkill for the system
Monitor: Acer KG271- Terribad, £159 new.

Total cost to buy new equivalent is ~£750, lose the cooler and it's down another £100, so £650 with a full warranty. I'd say it's worth £550, no mention of the PSU, could be awful.

I certainly see where you are coming from mate, but I don't know if I would have the confidence to actually build it !
The thing that was attracting him (and me) was the fact that it was already built, and ready to just plug in and play.

think i managed not to bad with the above- some B-Grade to keep it down :D

its all these 2nd hand sales highlighting how much it DID cost.. not whats it is worth now lol

say only good things are the K7 and 1070- k7 being bettered only by MSI/Aorus B450 ITX and higher end x470 boards

False economy as when it goes wrong you end up pulling it apart anyway. May as well build it from the ground up.

YouTube is your friend - plenty of how to guides! also, don't discount the manuals that come with the parts - they often have pictorials that show you where things go.

A PC is literally like building with Lego also, generally things only go in one way so if it doesn't easily slot into where its supposed to go it probably shouldn't go there.
(just don't forget the Motherboard standoffs inside the case if they aren't pre-installed).
