RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700XT or RTX 2070 ?

Somewhere far.
Been debating this myself after selling my 980Ti, I had convinced myself I was going to get a 2070 Super to replace it, but genuinely the 5700XT is incredible value for money, once the AIB cards are out I'll be buying my first AMD card ever.

I've gone from finishing Shadow of the Tomb Raider with medium ray tracing (which gives the bulk of the experience) to Far Cry New Dawn. I did and am enjoying both a lot. But the shading in New Dawn looks like total rubbish compared to Tomb Raider. When I did a little GTAV during my TR play, it struck me for the first time as looking distinctly old generation, when it did not before. I have been spoiled by ray tracing.
The future will come to my rescue though.

I wanna know when they bring out the AIB 5700xt though. Currently have an order for a new build pending due to the hold up of the 2070s. Turns out I'm in tje 3rd batch or pre orders so could be a month waiting...

Also, how many people buying cards of this expense are still at 1920x1080, unless they're into esports titles (in which case they won't care about RT and will probably buy AMD anyway due to RAL). Do you really also consider sub 30FPS in an action game acceptable (4K or any res)?

Ray tracing performance is very good at DXR Ultra on either RTX 2070 SUPER, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti.

Look at Shadow of the Tomb Raider 4K DXR Ultra for example around 30 fps on both RTX 2070 SUPER and RTX 2080 and 39 fps on 2080 Ti. If you think that ray tracing performance not acceptable. Then take a look at some 2019 non ray tracing games at 4K that struggled at 4K sub 30 fps.

So ray tracing at 4K 30 fps is not that bad.

Very embarrassed to see Radeon VII struggled at 4K 30 fps in these games and would not do 4K 60 fps with useless 16GB VRAM.

Sorry, we don't think people were talking about the raw performance of cards at 4K, but rather the "practicality" RT for games at the moment.

Realistically speaking, RT is only may be worthwhile for people with 1080p monitor, or 1440p 60Hz monitor with a fast enough graphic card that has enough GPU grunt left in the tank beyond 60fps to spare; for people with 1440p 144Hz monitor using RT it is literally mean they will have to sacrifice one key feature (high refresh rate) due to performance hit, in exchange for another feature (RT). It's like going to a restaurant, you would have to give up on a 2 courses meal with a high standard starter and main, exchanging it for an average starter and main for the sake of getting dessert.

Talking about AMD not being as fast a Nvidia at 4K has no bearing/is irrelevant with the subject of using RT with RTX card.

I wouldn't buy a card now for a game releasing in 2077, oops I mean 2020. Nvidia don't announce they just launch and whatever you buy ten months from now will be cheaper and/or more performant than anything now. Unless you have no card now wait for CB2077 then decide.

I was going to say if all the cards are the same price (seems werid that a 2060s is yhe dasa price as a 2070s) then get the 2070s if not go with the 5700XT.

Maybe to late for the OP but could help someone else decide if price matters.
The 5700XT is essentially trading blows with the more expensive 2070S in this video.

Can't wait to see the AIB Navi cards in action.

from what I have seen recently on youtube vids the RX5700XT is slightly better than the others. However it is usually a bit cheaper too. Strangely one youtube vid that I was watching last night stated that even though the RX 5700xt synthetic benchmarks were worse than the radeon VII, is actual usage the RX5700xt was better and smoother. I will try and post the links.

Arhh that Inno3D RTX 2070 Twin X2 (with game bundle) sold out :(

My option now is a Inno3D RTX 2060 Super Twin OC/Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC with game key bundle for Wolfenstein Youngblood & Control or an EVGA RTX 2070 XC Black Edition (no game bundle) and is £36 more...
