I suspect the EU and NATO will be very, very quiet. Time to test this special relationship with the US...

I reckon we will have jointly struck Iran by the morning.

Iran claiming they intercepted because it was not following international maritime rules because it had turned off its beacon

after the Montrose incident last week I wondered if they would use turned off beacons as an excuse to raid ships

Confirmed it is two ships:

Jeremy Hunt says two naval vessels have been seized

The foreign secretary said: "I'm extremely concerned by the seizure of two naval vessels by Iranian authorities in the Strait of Hormuz.

"I will shortly attend a COBRA meeting to review what we know and what we can do to swiftly secure the release of the two vessels - a British-flagged vessel and a Liberian-flagged vessel.

"Their crews comprise a range of nationalities, but we understand there are no British citizens on board either ship.

"Our Ambassador in Tehran is in contact with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to resolve the situation and we are working closely with international partners.

"These seizures are unacceptable. It is essential that freedom of navigation is maintained and that all ships can move safely and freely in the region."

EU decide Syrian government is bad, they want regime change.
UK steal one of Irans tankers.
Iran steal one of the UK's.

The question you have to ask is, should the EU / UK be able to force regime change in Syria.

If yes, then Iran bad, if no then UK bad.

Wait, there are no British citizens on them? Ha, Iran will be gutted.

The second tanker has been released and is on course to original destination.

This line kind of says it all.
"Their crews comprise a range of nationalities, but we understand there are no British citizens on board either ship.
I'm sure all of these nations will be concerned with the safety of their nationals. Great way of getting the rest of the world on your case Iran.

Any chance of HMS QE being pressed into service with the UKs current 18 F35s, plus a bunch of Apache and Lynx, escorted by another Destroyer and 2 Frigates - that would do the trick....

Just a bit lmao, that force could essentially blockade their entire sea access permanently
