I am thinking of upgrading my Evga GTX 1080 ti black edition witch has a custom Hybrid cooler on it.
and yes i know i could search about this just wanted peoples thoughts rather than reading reviews.

I was thinking of maybe getting a Evga 2080 ti xc or ultra and getting a hybrid cooler to go with it again what's is everyone's thoughts on the 1080 ti vs 2080 ti battle? and i was thinking of changing my 1080p monitor to a 2560x1440p to go with the 2080 ti or just get a new monitor for the 1080 ti

I'd have thought a 1080 Ti would be massive overkill already for a 1080p monitor. What refresh rate you running at?

I'd certainly go for a 1440p monitor first (I'd highly recommend an ultrawide) before considering upgrading from a 1080 Ti.

If you're at 1080P 144hz it isn't overkill at all, but if that's a standard 1080p 60hz monitor, your 1080Ti would've been sitting doing half-nothing most of the time!

1080Ti is still very respectable for 1440p 144hz. Obviously you're not going to be hitting 144hz in games, but a decently OC'd 8700K and some tweaked graphical settings, you should be hitting close enough in many.

I agree 100% that a new monitor would be my preference over a new card. Again, if its 1080P 144hz, not as bad, but 1440p 144hz is a nice upgrade.

For the most part with a 1080Ti you’re going to be hitting near on the same frames at 1080p as you are at 1440p so a 1440p 144hz+ monitor is a must for either card.

1080p to 1440p is a nice upgrade so that’s where I’d put my money in your situation.

A 2080Ti is around 30-40% faster especially at the higher resolutions from experience. 1080p there is going to be next to no difference.

If you can live without that just stick with the 1080Ti until next gen. still a very fast card.

is that monitor you have any goog the XB271HU was thinking of getting the Z271U curved one

Yeah I love mine and has been great since the day I got it never given me any problems.

It is IPS though and while in my opinion better than va due to quicker response times and better color reproduction. VA can ghost a bit at higher refresh rates. IPS can suffer from bleed issues although thankfully mine has been good in that regard.

The Z271U looks good so I’d be tempted by that.

Not worth it, barely 20/25% faster in most stuff at 1440p due to bottlenecking. Wait for the next gen man. (had a 2080Ti at both 1440p and UW 1440p, barely faster than a 2080 I also had)

Personally there is not even close to a big enough jump for me to do that..... the 1080ti is a more than capable QHD gpu so I would just get the new monitor.

I look for close to a 100% increase in performance, and a 1080ti - 2080ti is not even close to that... now, this current generation is a little different as it does give you new features to play with, but again, just imo, raytracing whilst very cool and definitely the future is not really there yet other than just to mess with. For me the saccrifice in other areas it too high a price to pay.

I would wait till (at least) next generation where you will get a bigger increase in raw performance and when turning on ray tracing will have less crippling performance results elsehwere.

the 1080ti is still a monster gpu, i would not write it off yet .
