I played for about 2 hours last night and got to level 6, I basically did 2 quests in the starter zone and just killed mobs to get high enough to leave the starter zone. I loved playing Classic in ultrawide with max graphics. I played the original 14 years ago and it's almost better now having a good PC and knowing what to do. I have time off for the launch so I'm super hyped, going to go full basement dweller, except in my own house and not my mums.

I've gotta say the lighting looks really good now. I was on the boat from Darnassus to Darkshore and the sun was shining through the netting on the boat, casting it onto the deck - looked amazing!

It's a shame it doesn't have DX12 nor the multi-core enhancements that 8.1 brought (~30% improvements in FPS), but maybe they'll add those down the line.

For rogues combat swords is overwhelmingly the best spec through 95% of the game for raiding, humans get sword specialisation which grants them expertise when wielding swords, expertise is often under looked but is a ridiculously powerful stat for the likes of rogues or fury warriors.

No expertise in classic.

Any one managed to get any classic addons working. Put them in the folder but at the login screen cant see the option to enable. cheers

Head to CurseForge and scroll down to WoW Classic 1.13.2. I managed to get OmniCC and Dominos working last night, although NugEnergy didn't.

It feels like night and day compared to private server clients. Visually better, smoother etc - a massive improvement. At 1440p it looks suprisingly good. It certainly doesn't feel like a 15 year old game.

I've gotta admit the feel is fantastic again. The game feels like it has consequences, if you get carried away you're gonna die. Every kill feels a bit more like an achievement unlike retail where you can just chain pull everything and zap it all in seconds. Having to train skills again is fantastic, not knowing what to do in quests forces you to read again, rather than just accepting everything and following the arrow.

Everything feels like it matters again. It's great.

THIS.

Managed to play for a couple of hours last night. It was crazy congested (which is to be expected) so only got to level 5. Argh, I can't wait till release.

Ran at 144hz at graphics level 10 @1440p. I was semi tempted to use classic settings but opted for bells and whistles instead. I have to turn the environmental congestion down though because I couldn't see half the mobs through the grass.

Regarding retadins. From what I've read they are definitely not the most viable spec but I reckon all but the most hardcore guilds are going to struggle to get 40 regular raiders to show up, let alone 40 perfect specs so a ret pally still may get a space.

We had a couple of Rets, a Prot Paladin, Shadow Priests & Feral Druids back in the day. Like someone else said in an earlier post, the guild I was in cleared all content up to and including 4 Horsemen prior to TBC launch. A lot more of the game is known now so I'm sure there'll be a few hybrids knockin' about.

I'm still unsure what to main :(

Legit just play what you want, new guilds will take in anyone to get the numbers up for raids. We had boomkins and a few Ret paladins in the guild I was in and I cleared up to C’thun.

It’s just the tryhards that’ll say you must play Warrior, Rogue or Mage.

This is why classic raiding guilds were so big and operated using out of game signup systems and loot point systems, often forming alliances with other guilds.
Paying out of guild funds for people to repec for raids. (you only get 1 spec and the amount to pay to respec goes up every time)
You will need 40 proper specs to clear vanilla MC. So you need a roster of 60 people.
The amount of gear you need from the end game dungeons will make your bored of running them. Think 80+ runs in ubrs.
Thats after you have got the key which no one will have on day 1 and will take 100s of runs in lbrs to get.
You will need the gear from endgame dungeons and early MC to clear MC so you want that gear going to the correct classes.
This is the version of classic your getting.

The version of classic wow being deployed is not the one that made palladin tanking, boomkins, feral druids or shadow priests viable in raids.
These classes / specs (and others) all got balance passes that made them very fun and viable.
When I cleared MC we had a shadow priest that could top the dps meters and do loads of healing at the same time.

Played a little last night and other than the expected mad scramble for mob tags it all seemed very smooth, looking forward to the 27th.

Using up some leave from work for the launch, seeing as though the original launch and into Burning Crusade was when I played and worked in France as a Blizz GM during the same period, so there's a heap of old memories there. :)

Probably going to main an Undead Warlock again, did consider Warrior, which was my first ever character and 60 but can't be bothered with the gear grind on a fresh server and first character, so Warrior/Druid/Shaman alts at some point when the economy is more established.

Looking forward to finding a good guild naturally when playing, not rushing stuff and soaking up the experience - enjoying the instances / PVP etc. :)
