Just got shipping confirmation.

If I'm calculating it correctly, after all deductions and selling the MC-11 it works out to something like £1200.

Didnt think it was as little as that? Mine came up with £1799 to pay today less £200 cashback from Sony which makes it £1599. Doubt you can get £399 for a MC-11???

Congrats on getting shipping confirmation. I still cant make my mind up as to whether to leave my mark IV preorder or buy this mark III and save almost £2k...

Put that £2k saved into a separate bank account and get a A7R5 when it's out (and sell the A7R3 for like £1k).

£2499 base price.
£1799 after Park discounts.
£1499 after VAT (I'm VAT registered).
£1299 after cashback.
£1199 after selling the MC-11 for about £100.

So if we're comparing this to buying the R4 that's a £1.8k (£3 - £1.2) saving without VAT but with you're saving £2.1k (£3.6 - £1.5). VAT does hurt the resale price though (but that's a problem for future me!).

I'm still a little torn, I think the R4 has plenty of nice improvements (ergonomics, improved AF, fixed wide open focusing, wireless tethering, faster pixelshift, EVF etc) but my main complaint with the A73 was the EVF and rear display which the R3 hopefully resolves, so do those other differences add up to what I could do instead with £2k? Add to that I consider the extra 20mp of the R4 a small hindrance to my work flow, I'm guessing not.

If the R4 drops like the R3 did I may as well wait a year and it'll probably be down a grand or more used, if they keep this pace we'll have an R5 in a couple of years...

I got mine off eBay. It's £699 on there, which is a lot cheaper than UK price. I even did it on 10% eBay off day so £629. If you are not in a hurry, wait for the next 10% off day.
At the moment eBay are doing £50 off so that makes it £629 too, don't think I'll get it any cheaper than that.

Missed one on the TP forum that sold for £560 a few days ago.

Is there anything under £1000 that's as sharp for macro?

Nope. Until recently and i think it was only when the sony 135mm gm came out, the sony 90mm macro was the sharpest lens that Sony made. Which is why I know a lot of people who use it for portrait work as well as macro.

Lost out on the lens @ £629.

One came up today on Gumtree for £800 used, I offered £600 and left a message saying it can be bought for £630 brand new with the 10% off eBay are doing right now, responded saying he wanted at least £750

Why don't you just buy the Ebay one if it's cheaper? He is hardly going to want to sell it at such a loss regardless of what other good temporary prices are elsewhere.
