1.What is the best car you've driven?

Audi RS6 Avant. I can't comment on the reliability, consumption or upkeep costs as it was my boss's car, but I was an apprentice at the time, my boss pulled me in to the office one day and said "I've bought a yacht, it's in Germany, I need you to drive me and my whole family to it this weekend and bring the car back". He was also the kind of guy to tell me to floor it on the autobahn, it was a good weekend.

2. What is the worst car you've driven?

Citroen C3. 1.0l naturally aspirated. Managed 170kph on the autobahn. Wheeziest, crappiest engine I've ever experienced. Some of the dumbest car design choices I've ever seen in a car, just ridiculously stupid. No mirror in any of the visors, the sun visors were woefully inadequate and didn't swing sideways so if you had the sun in your face from the side then tough. The cruise control stalk is hidden behind the steering wheel, only discovered it had cruise about 700km in to the trip. The indicator stalk is in the way, took a bit of getting used to as every time I turned the wheel I'd hit the bloody thing, and I have lady hands. The Satnav was hands down the most horrible, hateful thing I've ever used. In fact I'd go so far as to say it was worse than the Route 66 Nav I had for my old Nokia 6600, where you had to connect a GPS receiver via Bluetooth. What a crap car, just spectacularly bad on all fronts. Good on fuel though.

3. What was your first car

Audi 80 coupe with 400bhp. Mate of mine was big in to his racing (rich family y'see) and he did this thing up with loads of Porsche bits and then eventually sold it to me for a steal as he moved on to a Seat Ibiza. It was an absolute monster for about two months until it went bang and he wouldn't even help me look at it. I sold it for 20% of what I bought it for. The guy who bought it spent like 200 euros on spares and stuff and fixed it. Every time I saw it a little piece of me died inside.

4. What is your dream car?

Zonda. One of the originals, or perhaps a Tricolore. Nothing's as nice as those.

Ford Falcon XR6:
A car I'd drive if they had them here would be a Ford Falcon XR6. We had one in Oz for a couple of weeks. Ridiculously primitive car, at the end of the day it was a ute with a bit of extra body stuck on, and it wasn't ashamed of it. The 4l straight 6 was a beast of an engine. The transmission was lazy and would often sit there second guessing me for a few seconds before deciding to shift but when it did it went in to full party mode and the thing just blasted off like a scorned cat. More boot space than the ISS, but the boot was basically just a massive steel box with a bit of sound deadening which seemed to be more of a box ticker than actual sound deadening. It just had so much charm, it wasn't pretending to be anything it wasn't, it was just a bit of good ol' brute force with a basic interior which could be cleaned very easily and was deceptively comfy. In sport mode it made a noise to rival even the most hardcore Jags, it was just ridiculous. It went off road all over the place, not a single rattle or squeak, never complained, the traction control let you have oddles of fun before it stepped in. Great car.

In terms of most ridiculous car, hands down it's the GLS63 AMG. A car of that size and stature should not be able to snap your neck like that, what a ridiculous car. The only time I've ever gotten out of a car and wondered why they built it. The force, the violence, the aggression, it was all meant for something like a C63 or an E63 or whatever, not a massive people carrier that needs a few orbits to slow down and feels like it's going to fall over in a corner. The interior was just stupid. Surrounded by all the luxury you can think of, yet you're sitting in seats that despite having every trick in the book, still felt like they'd be more at home in a Focus RS, and probably wouldn't be comfy for a larger set person. It was the ultimate mix of performance, lucury and practicality, and yet it felt like the most mismatched car I've ever driven. Just weird.

1.What is the best car you've driven?
On reflection I honestly think it's the S2000. I remember having a supercar experience day with a Gallardo, 997 Turbo (tiptronic, yuk) and an Ariel Atom and jumping back into my S2000 to drive home and thinking, wow, this is so easy to drive, plenty fast enough and VTEC BWAAAHHHH. Taking the S2000 to Rockingham confirmed how balanced it was, although we were getting overtaken by most things. I had an absolute ball driving a rented 1970's Fiat 500 around the Tuscan hills, but that was good in a different way.

2. What is the worst car you've driven?
Daihatsu Sirion (pre 2004 model). Terrible thing, very few redeeming features apart from it had a roof and 4 wheels. So totally numb and lifeless. Second only to the 2012 Honda Jazz for sheer lack of engagement. For worst reliability see below:

3. What was your first car
MG-TF 80th anniversary in Goodwood Green. Sporty exhaust, no roof, always an event to drive... occasionally for the wrong reasons such as the oil pump failing at motorway speeds and throwing a conrod out of the engine! The AA helpfully told me that it was definitely the headgasket (which doesn't tend to sound like metal falling out of the bottom of the car to my knowledge). I drove that car through all weathers and loved it, even though they're widely regarded as terrible and the reliability was shocking. I would buy it back if I won the lottery.

4. What is your dream car?
If I can only have one, I think I pretty much own it - 2006 911 C2S Cabriolet manual. Sure, there are other cars that I'd like to own, and would definitely own if money, space and time weren't so limiting (mostly money!), but it's really hard to beat the 911 as an overall package. Small enough to thread down B roads, easy enough to drive to the shops and through town, fast and comfortable enough for long motorway cruises and the howl of a NA flat six with a sports exhaust with no roof. I guess the way to improve this would be to drop a GT3 engine into a cabriolet as is being rumoured, but then we run the risk of losing the rear seats. Also it's already far too fast for the road, which is where the S2000 was so great... another car I'd buy back.

If money is no object and I could have more than one, then I'd definitely have a Zonda (with no roof).

1.What is the best car you've driven? 996 Turbo or my MX5, the latter purely for how great it is around British B road.
2. What is the worst car you've driven? An automatic citroen people carrier thing, was in portugal and have no idea what it was called
3. What was your first car? Mini Cooper, although learned in my sister's Corsa 1.0 (horrible thing)
4. What is your dream car? A super version of my MX5 really, something I can chuck around, maybe an Ultima or GT3. I do love a DB4 GT Zagato though...

I'm going to say my "best" is the car which I enjoyed the most, rather than the "best" technically etc -

1. My Skyline R34 GTT with the RB26 engine from a GTR - perfect balance of power, handling, feel etc but it ruined me financially. However my L-Reg Citroen ZX 1.9D as a "£100 from eBay" car comes a close second as, a bit like the Top Gear road trips where the cast bond with a crap car, I absolutely adored "Leaky" - L344KKY - as the ultimate crap car which never lets you down no matter what and was hilarious to drive

2. Rover 25 hire car - I thought I broke the clutch pedal as it was so weak/light and meh and the dash was cream with maroon numbers. It was designed by someone with zero passion for driving, design or fun

3. F-Reg Ford Escort 1.6 - My only carb-engined car, was a good "starter" car where I learned "feel" (no power steering), rev matching (crap synchro), keeping max speed through a bend (no power to accelerate after one) etc and general car DIY inc new stereo/speakers etc.

4. Test drove a brand new R34 GTR that was being used as a press car - always wanted one but missed the boat on "cheap" ones before the price doubled almost overnight but TBH nothing really stands-out now-a-days. I'm too old for a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche/McLaren etc without looking like an advert for mid-life crisis but I'd like to own a Dodge Hellcat at some point, just because I love the look/sound combo but I wouldn't call it a "dream" car.

Best car I've driven is difficult... All round for comfort/speed my Volvo S60 T5. As a nice easy car to drive, my friends B7 A4 S-Line. As a fun car to hoon around in, my old Mk2 MX5 1.8S.

Worst car I've driven is a Mk4 Golf TDI. It was just laggy and numb all the controls felt crap.

First car I owned was a 2002 Polo 9N 1.2E, first vehicle I drove was a 1994 Mitsubishi L300 2.5 LWB

Dream car is a 1957 BelAir 2dr HT with the turbo fire V8, in tropical turquoise with the matching vinyl interior, and without the spare wheel carrier and rear wheel covers.

Tough one, really depends on what you wanted from the experience.
Audi RS6 was fantastic to drive, power, grip & loads of toys.

2. What is the worst car you've driven?
Renault 5, I owned it for 3 days before blowing the engine.
Luckily I only paid £150 for it as it was something to use whilst my RS turbo was in the garage.

1975 Austin mini van, 850cc engine with custom A team paint job.

4. What is your dream car?
Another tough one, I've a long list of cars I'd like to own, a Dodge Challenger RT, just so I could re-enact Vanishing Point
Other than that, I'd like a Mercedes AMG black

Its a tough decision between my dads old vauxhall astra which was slow as hell, or my sisters Renault megane, which being french is continually having electrical problems.

1. Best car I've driven, objectively was a Ferrari, can't even remember which one, on an experience day. The one that makes me ache to own one? My DC2. What a car if you live in Northumberland and like fishing and camping but also the occasional track day.

2. Worst car, Qashquai I had on rental, they might be ok if you're into that sort of thing, not for me though.

3. First car was a 1.3 Escort (H reg in 1993), ok but I barrell rolled into a telegraph pole 6 foot up, chopping the pole in two and destroying every part of the car except the 3 occupied seats.

4. Dream car would be what Colin Chapman would build today, light, agile and I'd be happy with a revvy N/A engine like the VTEC in the DC2. So I guess the original NSX? New one is too ugly.

1. Mk4 MX5 2.0 Sport Nov

All the positive driving characteristics of my mk1 MX5 in a modern package with none of the old car annoyances.

2. Ford Escort 1.6 (courtesy car)

Totally destroyed clutch which slipped constantly and felt like two cars loosely tacked together at the middle.

3. Hyundai Pony 1.5 GLX

Given to me by my grandad when he became to ill to drive it. Was actually much better than most of my mates mates cars at the time and I kept it for over 5 years before it rusted beyond being worth saving.

4. Changes regularly but I always end up coming back to the AM Vantage. I just love the looks, the proportions, the noise... even with its shortcomings I'd have one in an instant if I could afford to run it.

Best car: I’ve not driven anything outrageous. Passengering an E55 AMG was hilarious fun. The Fiesta ST I’ve just bought is the best I’ve actually driven.

Worst car: A Nissan Micra 1.0 with the CVT gearbox I once got given as a loan car. Slow, dreary and made a noise like a cow in labour.

First car: Fiat cinquecento sporting. A full throbbing 54bhp! Great fun for what it was but outrageously unreliable.

Dream car: 1973 911 RS. Gorgeous, rare, and utterly out of reach.

I’ve also had the unfortunate experience of driving one of these. Truly terrible.

Tough call between an Impreza WRX STi or Mazda MX-5. Two completely different beasts but both excellent in their own way, the Impreza being a savagely fast B road blaster where the MX-5 is a more precise, nimble tool.

2. What is the worst car you've driven?

Mk2/2.5 Focus. An utterly dull car. And then some more dull thrown on top. I've driven quite a few of these, both petrol and diesel and they are dire. The diesel has awful power delivery, massive torque spike but doesn't feel fast. The 1.6 petrol is gutless. They all have awful overly assisted brakes. Steering feel is shocking. Plastic interior. I get my enjoyment in these cars by seeing how many gears I can maintain a wheelspin. My diesel automatic MG ZT is by far a better car to drive... that's coming from someone who was always anti-diesel and anti-automatic.

4. What is your dream car?

Without a doubt a Subaru Impreza, of which I own a very nice blobeye STi. I wouldn't mind an AM DB9 or DBS in the future but the Impreza won't be going anywhere.

My mum had one. The funniest thing was putting it in sport where it would just sit at about 4000 RPM all the time while not actually being any quicker

I must have missed the sport button. As far as I could tell on the one that I drove, the pedal on the right caused more noise but no appreciable increase in speed. I know it’s how CVT is meant to work, but it just felt like the clutch was slipping all the time.

@Acme - the light, nimble nature of the car would have been great if not for the terrible gearbox. Even pulling out of junctions was a pretty terrifying experience.
