Hi all,

I currently have:

- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor @ 4.3Ghz
- ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB
- Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower Case - Black
- MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
- OcUK Value 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz
- Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

This has done me well since April 2012 and is still doing well to be honest, but theres a few games now where I want higher FPS and it's the CPU throttling me, so I finally need to upgrade my MOBO / CPU and RAM

My question is, any suggestions? Would that be all I need to get? Would I need to get another cooler/case?

Thanks!

Tried To DM you Andy but that doesn't seem to be an option...

Just wondering how you got that 4.8Ghz speed.

I have a pretty good cooler - Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

But anything over 4.3Ghz and I get BSOD's while gaming..

Thanks

Andy, once I changed the voltage to manual I've been running 4.5Ghz, thanks ;)

Going back to the upgrade..

I'm thinking to get :
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Motherboard: Aorus X570 AORUS ELITE (Socket AM4/X570/DDR4/S-ATA 600/ATX)
RAM: HyperX HX432C16PB3K2/16 Predator DDR4 16 GB

This will go with what I currently have:
GPU: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB
Case: Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower Case - Black
PSU: OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

What are your thoughts?

I'd go for a 3600MHz Ryzen tuned kit, like the below - otherwise looks good.

If your case has no window go for the Corsair LPX Black RAM kit instead :)

Are you using an SSD? That's a must if you aren't... Can't see any mention of what drives you have

Lastly, do you have the AMD mounting bracket for your cooler still? Presume you are re-using it, if not I think it's this one

What resolution are you gaming at and what framerates do you want to achieve? Either way the CPU upgrade is massive (upgraded a few weeks ago from the a 2500k at 4.3ghz to a 3700x).

I'm playing Quake Champions at 1080p with 240hz monitor, so would be nice to get 240 FPS, don't mind playing at low gfx settings.

Will be nice to play new AAA games on high settings with over 60FPS too.

Thanks for your input! I may well go with this ^ :) I've also emailed Corsair, cheers.

Regarding drive.. I'm currently using just a Crucial M4 Sata SSD from 2012, is it worth investing into NVMe drive? I ask because the SSD seems plenty fast enough already..

Hi all,

I got these new components but now my PC will not display anythng, it just shows a black screen "no signal detected". The CPU lights up and fans spin.

I have tried removing the gfx card to use the onboard HDMI slot but still get the same.

Does anyone know what could be the cause?
