Have had my 3700x for a few weeks now and it just has constant temp changes, goes from 38 to 50, to 35 to 50 to 44 to to 35 all within seconds etc this is at idle with a noctua d15

Is such a large range within such a short time normal? is it because of the boost... boosting or something? reminds me of my kids when they just wont sit still.

Its normal.
Ryzen 3000 doesn't function like a normal CPU would, and has more in common with how a GPU boosts up and down.
Most monitoring software's cant poll quick enough to see those temp changes, so often report values that last a very short amount of time, as lasting longer than they are.
As long as its not consistently near to its thermal max, i wouldn't worry about it.

As already said, all of the newer CPU change temp almost instantly with each change in load, and when we are doing anything at all load is constantly changing. :)
