Witcher 3 or Skyrim.....

Not as simple as the title suggests. Ive played both.

I Played Witcher 3 on PS4 when it was released (2015?). Completed the main story line (not all the quests) in about 5 weeks. Moved on before the first DLC came out - so Ive not played any DLC.

Skyrim I played again when released, so what 2010 or something, on a first gen i5 laptop - with quite low level graphic settings (not the lowest but not far off) on the small 15" screen.

Having picked up (or rather being delivered tomorrow) a new PC capable of running pretty much anything at 120 FPS in QHD - Im looking at games to try. I have some in mind (X4, Divinity 2, EU4, but yet to decide which to tackle when) - but want an action RPG. Outer Worlds/Cyberpunk are both in my cross-hairs but not out yet (and neither have magic so that an excuse to get another title on top of those). AC.... Never liked there games.

So- Im considering re-visiting on of these to get my 1st person RPG fix. Obviously Im going to get much better graphics from both titles on the new rig - I will get DLCs where appropriate - and of course there are MODs I can now use.

So - given when I last played these titles - what I last played them on, how much of current content I played - and what MODs are available ..... Which one should I go with.

To be honest I'd pick them both up, they're so cheap these days..
But that being said, if I was to pick just one it'd probably be skyrim. I played that game to death when released and had another go when it was released in vr..

I mean, Witcher 3 is vastly better at things I care about (quest design, writing, atmosphere) and its expansions are some of the best things gaming has ever produced. And on PC you will get much better graphics and framerate which transform the experience.

Then I totally recommend brilliant Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Check out my shots and impressions in its thread:

I would honestly not go back to Skyrim, eventhough I enjoyed it when it came out.

Thing to remember about skyrim, is that not all the mods work on the special edition and I'd imagine there are mods made only for the special edition too.

They are cheap BUT the other games Im definitely picking up are going to cost £150-£200 (depending which DLCs I pick up for EU4 and). This is my action RPG for fun fix when I need a break from the stat heavy grand strategy OR iso RPG that is Divinity. As such Im just looking for one to dip into when I want that style of game.

I struggled to get into Kingdom Come - again on PS4 though. I lasted about 2 weeks and got board. Witcher 3 I finished, Horizen Zero Dawn I finished, Last of Us I finished, REsi Evil 7 I finished.... KC. Nope (same for AC and Gods of war mind - some games just dont click with me).

Yeh - I have looked at special edition Mods. There are a few (magic kingdom, some spell packs, some map, UI and graphical enhancements) Id go for straight away, along with some extra quest lines.

I loved Witcher 3 and graphically I’m more inclined towards replaying it and completing the quests based on the maxed settings. Everything is beautiful.

I loved Skyrim but it took a decent amount of modding before it really grabbed me.

Witcher 3 - yes
Skyrim - definitely. There are a gazillion mods out there, some great quests, armours, weapons, game tweaks and some awesome visual mods to make it look fantastic.

Just search YT, there's a ton of vids out there on how to make it glorious.

Plus, Kingdom Come. Loving that on PC.
