We had a cracking day out at the awesome Glamis Castle Transport Show yesterday and had the first outing as a Porsche owner on the PCGB region stand :)

Lusting a lot over the older 911s, especially the pornographic 993 Turbo!

Enjoy.

Ha, it was my first Porsche outing too, though I brought the family instead (they didn't fit in the Cayman). We possibly exchanged pleasantries around the BBQ

Great day out, my 5month old really enjoyed it. I was rather taken by the stunning red Integrale and several other fantastic cars.

Great photos! Love the 944s!

Cheers :D

She's a beaut and the previous owner really did some great work to her. The Peridot paint job is also to a high standard and quite unique compared to the white/guard's red/black ones about.

Haha, small world. I did wonder if I'd ever run into you at some point as our world up here seems to always be linked by only a few degrees of separation.

I've forgotten most people's names but look forward to enjoying some of the runs and meets coming up and getting to meet folk from the group again properly. We were the couple with the picnic mat and obviously the green car :p

I think there's a regular monthly meet close to Aberdeen.

Still have the ISF or is the Porsche the replacement?

Ah yours was the green 944. I had a quick look at one point, lovely car and colour. Would def like to have a proper gander next time the opportunity comes up.

Indeed, it's a small world up here. I'll certainly appear at one of the upcoming monthly meets so I'll come and say hello.

Yeah sadly the ISF went to make way for the Cayman. Would have loved to have ran both, but just not practical with a new baby apparently :D Enjoying the Porsche so far, certainly easier to have fun in, without needing to do stupid speeds which was ultimately the ISFs downfall.

I'll keep an eye out for your Peridot 944, something tells me I won't miss it!

Sooooo.

Mk1 Cayenne Turbo / Turbo S. Anyone currently have or previous owned one?

Starting to have a look at a few as a replacement for the X5.

Cheers, it is a lovely example and the previous owner had done an awful lot to it!

Poor ISF, but nice on the Cayman. Look forward to having a look and catching up at a meet.

IIRC there’s a guy on here who has one and did a thread about it: think he’s had a pretty positive experience so far, bar one issue that was sorted under warranty.

I did a lot of research into them and everything I read said the 4.5 turbo was the one to get: the N/A V8 is very unreliable apparently, which is probably why you can pick them up for about 50p nowadays. There’s also lots of videos on YouTube by people like Hoovie’s Garage about buying them and what to look for etc.

Anyone know where to get wheel centre caps from? 2 of mine are starting to discolour. Wheels are 20inch Carrera S in high gloss black. Don't fancy paying Porsche £200 for the privilege.

In my experience with other marques I've always ended up getting them from the dealer in the end as it's tricky to find the right ones elsewhere. I'm surprised that you're needing to replace them though, my Father's 2002 996 is still on the original caps. They are solid items though so I wonder whether the quality has gone down hill.

These are solid as well. It basically looks like part of the lacquer has disbonded.

Sadly the GTS has to go back to the dealer again, it's taking a few seconds to start and on Monday it took 3 attempts to start - each time it would fire up, then the revs drop and it would cut out :(

Managed to get it going by giving it some gas on start up eventually but it's not right.

MAF sensor I suspect.
Easy to diagnose to unplug the MAF and if it then runs fine, it is your MAF sensor as with the MAF unplugged on a Porsche they run a different engine map.

Yes.

Just unplug, if it then stops cutting out, just order a new one online and problem fixed unless its under warranty and Porsche should cover supply and fit of that.

Thanks mate, have given it a go and it started fine. Will leave it unplugged and try it again in a few hours, if it starts fine I'll get it sorted :)

Yep car will divert to an Alpha-N map I believe, so its safe to drive, though I'd personally not be driving it at 10/10ths as the air flow will be a pre-calibrated map and not actual flow as reported by MAF sensors, it is generally a bosche sensor and they seem to typically last around five years.
