Hey all.

Just bought a new TV at the weekend with a bit of future proofing in mind (LG 65SM9010PLA) which has HDMI 2.1.

Now... My receiver is a Sony STRNDN1080 which i believe is HDMI 2.0.

When the next generation of consoles comes around and i'd like to make use of HDMI 2.1 features i'm assuming the receivers hdmi 2.0 passthrough will not be happy with VRR and higher refresh rate gaming.

Would it be possible to plug the next gen console directly to the TV then use eARC on another hdmi to pass the audio down to the receiver?

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers :)

I do that already abit without 2.1.

Have same receiver, plugs into my TV via arc ARC. My pc and console connect directly into the TV not amp.

Amp turns on and off with TV perfectly fine and volume goes up and down from the stock TV remote fine. Don't even use the Sony AV receiver remote as a result. I can't imagine consoles being any different.
