Me and my friend have the 2018 qled q8dn.

Today we have been talking about swapping our 1080ti/1080 to amd cards.

Would be very please if this lets me turn on freesync.

Any idea when driver is coming?

soooo, forgive my ignorance then, but perhaps someone that knows stuff about TVs can explain something to me.

I've never got my head around refresh rates on TV's (compared with what is clearly defined on monitors), with the each manufacturers marketing landscape seemingly having its own laws and standards to quote obscure figures.

My question is, does this mean 4K can be delivered in excess of 60Hz / FPS, when (or if) the next gen of GPUs are shipped with HDMI 2.1, on an OLED display with adaptive frame rates?

It's basically what I've been waiting for a number of years now. Granted the C9 prices are higher than that of 120Hz 4K monitors but I could justify spending that kind of money if it was a TV rather than a dedicated PC display for £1500, or thereabouts.

Basically like a good version of those BFGD things Nvidia tried peddling and never really got off the ground.

.
.

Only if the tv also has hdmi 2.1 (im not sure if any do yet)

My tv 2018 qled has freesync and can do 4k and 120hz but not at same time because of the limits of hdmi.

If I want 120hz I need to use 1440p or 1080p. 4k is 60hz only.

Currently the 2019 LGs are the only TVs that have it.

Bit useless without GPUs that support 2.1 though.

Oh good for them, about time tv's started coming with it.

I really wanted hdmi 2.1 setup with home cinema/gpu/tv, I held on to my plasma for 6 years but gave up waiting in the end.

Really loving this tv anyway, only had it a couple of months, still figuring out all the settings, i keep finding new things that make it better, today I learned if I label my pc as console instead of pc my colours are much better and opens up more settings.

I was on 1080p/60hz for 15 year. Now playing at 1440p 120hz is super amazing.

Really hope this new driver lets me do freesync, that would make it even better and save me buying new card.

How do you use a keyboard and mouse in front of the TV? I've been playing with options on the Xbox one X and I can't get comfortable at all on the couch, was thinking of a Couchmaster but seems expensive for a couple of cushions and a board.

I never could.

Gamepad all the way, and I got so used to it that it's my preferred peripheral for the PC as well.

Obviously not for online with the PC though, but not a problem as I haven't played online since publishers shut down independent servers.

For a couch, it's more complicated. A long flat board can be used to rest on your lap and you put the KB&M on it. For me, I have a sofa chair and use a small table for leg support with some pillows. I have this for mouse rest on the sofa arm (https://i.imgur.com/BbmcWTn.jpg), and the keyboard I just rest on my lap when I'm using it.

Personally I game on pad always even competitive gaming like overwatch, i just use mouse and keyboard for browsing. I got wrist injury to gaming all day on mouse isnt an option.

As above surely something like this much better than playing on your lap.
