I'm doing a bit of research for a project, and aside from my own thoughts I'm interested to see what other people's stereotypes/preconceptions are about people from Essex, and as a place.

I'll kick you off: they love a bit of cosmetic surgery.

There are a lot of Essex girls who travel in on the train to Liverpool Street all dolled up and who appear to be looking for rich men working in the City.

The stereotype is exactly that, a stereotype.

Lots of varied people here. None of my friends are the fake tan and cosmetic surgery types.

Essex born & bred for over 50 years & I bucked the 'trends' of XR2/3's, Shell suits & the 'Liiiiiikkkkke'.

Me too!

Born in Basildon, lived in Grays then back to Basildon until I was nearly 11. Still have a fair few relatives around the Stanford-Le-Hope and Chafford Hundred area.
