So apparently, from around 3am tomorrow morning, the splinter group of extinction rebellion 'Heathrow Pause' are going to fly 'toy drones' at head height, around the exclusion zone.

I imagine it'll either be a massive fail, or cause total carnage.

What say ye, GD?

Are the drone protests a valid and effective way of raising awareness of climate change? OR are they a bunch of entitled middle-class hippies who want to cause some chaos?

Nobody really knows 100%, being ***** and stopping people getting their flights isn't going to answer it though

Stopping people having kids would be wiser, that would however be extremely sinister, though the government is trying it's hardest to do it regardless by making this country difficult to live in.

Whether climate change is caused by humans or not, we should be changing our attitudes to the products we consume: re-using everything from furniture to clothes. Many of us have a pretty wasteful lifestyle and, in my opinion, there is a strange beauty to be found in efficiency. Airports should expand if there is a need for that - instead, ways to make such expansions neutral towards the environmental impact are what we need to explore.

Surely having big 'hub' airports is a lot better for the environment than someone having to get a bus/taxi/rental car from Heathrow to Gatwick to make a flight connection. There are also excellent rail links to Heathrow, soon to become a lot better with Crossrail.

I would have been surprised if they weren't arrested. They were publically saying they were going to break the law. They will be fortunate not to be charged with some kind of terror-related offence like plotting to endanger an aircraft etc.

So it seems they couldnt get a single drone in the air despite them being hacked so Heathrow must be using some anti drone signalling now.

Seems like they resorted to the old fashioned invasion and two were arrested inside the inner cordon of the airport.

It would really be quite funny if they locked a few of them up for life. Endangering lives like that as a form of 'protest' is utterly, utterly stupid. Perhaps a life sentence or two for what is essentially domestic terrorism would stop this in it's tracks.

Blocking a road in central Manchester or whatever is inconvenient and people will forgive you. Stopping people from going on their holidays is just going to lose you friends. It's a terrible idea on both fronts.

but is it changing because of humans are does the Earth go through cycles?

it maybe that earth is indeed going through cycle - BUT regardless we are consumming too much in terms of fossil fuels/materials (go into everyday products we buy)/plastic etc etc which is not right thing to do - we must curb our use..

I highly doubt that this is the same drone behaviour that occurred before, they're probably not using an automated path for which a anti-drone system (assuming its a field) can't deal with.

They never did find that guy either.
