They are a definitely an improvement. I’m guessing that the suspension components must be significantly strengthened to cope with loss of tyre spring.

Completely reworked. Apparently the current tyres account for something like 70% of the energy through the system. I suspect this is a big area where teams will win or lose with the new regs.

IIRC it used to be that 75% of the suspension movement was within the tire. Now, it'll be reversed at best. The suspension design is going to more important than ever.

Then again, there used to be blow valves in some dampers that allowed the system to basically collapse and lift the wheel completely off the ground when sufficient force was applied. Like when they clout a kerb at high speed. Up comes the wheel, car remains flat, wheel comes down again and off they go with no real bounce.

Depends on how they are going to determine the grid for the mini race; results from preious race (which penalises a crash in two races) or championship positions (which means a bad race/crash early in the year will forever hold you back). Or maybe they can have qualifying :p for the mini race :rolleyes:
