Also at the same time as this my Gaz Rear Shocks turned up, along with an axle I couldnt refuse, English Axle, Limited Slip Diff, Wilwood Four Pots with Hand Brake Mech, Four Linked, Watts Linked. Landed.

So set about installing all that, only issue I found is the hand brake mech doesnt clear 13s! So Calipers will be going on the front and sierra cossy calipers will go on the rear.

So thats how it is at the moment. Next job is to weld the Watts Link towers on as I had planned on Pan Rod setup!

I also *may* have changed my mind about the engine....

Being as its been nice weather and I prefer to ride my bike, ive not touched this in a while, but had a quiet week in work so got cracking.

Ive had a change of plans, mainly due to costs of how to get the power I want. Ive decided to go for MX5 Engine and Box, this will enable to me to see 230hp easily for less than the cost of getting the zetec to 190hp! Plus ive boosted an MX5 before and know how much fun they are. Sooo... I bought a complete MK1 1.8 MX5 and set about

Engine in place

Pretty tight in places and had to cut bulkhead back for clearance

Loving this!

Once you go jap you never go back.

F20c from an S2000 would have been epic and 240hp straight out the box

Problem is with the F20c, its about £3k for engine, then ill need a gearbox, wiring, management etc..

So far, this has cost me £200 if that, sold a few bits of MX5 that I bought, by the time I buy all the bits to turbo it, ill see 250hp for £1500

Classic Ford parts markup!

MK1/2 Escorts are all owned by old men from Essex whos wives left them because they loved their car more than them. Parts makers know that those people have plenty of disposable income because they live off of Tesco Value pasta, Stella, and roll up cigarettes. :p

I can't remember if you've answered this, and I'm feeling a bit too lazy/drunk/lazily drunk to check - are you carb'ing the MX-5 motor or sticking with EFI?

But all that stuff is universal motorsport gear, not Mk2 Escort specific.

Started doing a bit of the wiring for the engine, trying to use as much MX5 stuff as possible so pulled out the charging/power supply cabling. Cut out what I didnt need and installed it, the good thing I have with this I now have an OEM main fuse box for the high power amp stuff, like fuel pump and fans. :) I also got it to turn over on the starter earlier which was a nice little win. Hopefully have it possibly running this week... Maybe..

I now have a working ignition system, charging system, main fuse board and secondary fuse board. All using the MX5 parts. As well as the ignition barrel and key :) This makes life easier for me, I now have OEM points to run the fuel pump, cooling fans and starting/charging system from. As well as an OEM smaller fuse board to run the power to ECU, Lights, Wipers, etc.
