I'm just not sure if I should pull the trigger on a complete new build. Finances are a little tight.

My GTX 980 is dying a slow death. Artifacting when booting windows. Takes 2-3 boots before monitors will go on. Strange performance dips in games that were not an issue before etc.

Is there a budget card I can throw in for even better performance below £150 or should I really be thinking about a complete new build?

Current build:

  • Mod 1150 ASUS Z97-A ATX Motherboard
  • Corsair CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866Mhz CL9 XMP Performance
  • Intel Core i5 4690K Processor (3.5 GHz, 6 MB Cache, LGA1150 Socket)

If finances are tight, just get a used 980 Ti from the members market. Nice little boost from that normal 980 and it's still a very capable card!

Second hand G1 1080 was a huge upgrade for me. Put it under water and overclocked the gibbons off it. Very happy.

They’re quite expensive compared to 980s on the MM though, and I don’t think I’d have been happy without a heavy overclock.
